Coolant Drip (Leak) - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #77236 8 posts Started by jackkasper
I have coolant dripping from where my new water pump connects to the coolant hardlines. There are two 10 mm nuts and what appears to be a gasket. The drip is from the bottom and only appears to happen when the engine is cold. I have tried a stop leak product and it didn't work.

Any suggestions?

get the gasket that goes there and the o ring that goes on the top pipe, and replace them.

That's not your problem. That's an easy fix. The real problem is that you poured stop leak into your cooling system. I suggest you flush it out now before it does any damage, if it's not already too late.
I used the powdered type that was the smallest quantity available. It was only about 4 oz. What's the problem with this type of solution?
What brand was it? I've never heard a single good thing about those products, unless the car was destined for the scrap yard anyway and the owner just wanted to keep it going a bit longer before its inevitable doom. Assuming that's not your case, the stop leak products can clog up coolant passageways in your radiator as well as the rest of your cooling system (read: engine, heater core). It is made to clog up holes, after all.
i wouldnt recommend putting any of that crap into your system, especially the coolant. My dad put some seal stuff into my oil and so far I haven't seen anymore dripping so I'm guessing it's a good sign smile.gif
