lol. I'm looking forward to seeing it work. It's a pretty complicated piece of equipment, and it is QUALITY! Got a great deal on it too. 160 shipped!

my cover leaked a little too, i tightened them down again after i had it running. make sure you have good crush washers when you connect your fuel line.. may spray a little if it doesnt

Well guys **** hit the fan with my vacation request so I'm forced to begin my swap tomorrow. Wish me luck, and I will keep you updated.
I will try to keep these in order, but there are a BUNCH of pictures.

Prep night in the garage the night before the swap.

I parked the car at the swap location, and this was my mileage.

Special Delivery!

The patient.

Remove hood.

Progress.

Now lean back!

Stupid Axles.

More progress.

More help arrives.

x2

Loose.

Hooked up!

x2

Stupid rear mount! Curtis was PISSED.

Got it!

x2

Almost!

OUT!

Empty!

x2

Tranny off!

Up to bat!

Clutch/Flywheel/Pressure plate INSTALLED!
Those are the last of the pictures for now because it got dark and cold really fast. We will pick up tomorrow.
The transmission is installed on the engine (engine 100% ready to install), walbro installed, ecu installed, hole cut in firewall for wiring, and obviously...5s removed...

Quick question. I went ahead and did this, but i just want to be sure. I took the mount from the back of the 5s that the axle bolts to, and bolted it to the back of the 3s....Is this correct? Or should I somehow find a way to use the 3s mount?
yep the 5s axle bracket works just fine on the 3s, looking good ben!

Still waiting on my order from siliconeintakes.com. should be streetable by next week. I'm running into a couple of issues finding a coil wire, gotta fab the intercooler piping, install the gauges, and put the interior back together.
coil wire off of a 5sfe will also work

I'm waiting on the 5s coil wire. My 5s didn't have the California ignition, which means that my coil is internal. Toyota can source the wires individually. Part only costs about 5 bucks. AutoZone wanted 50 bucks for the full wire set. F*** That!!!

Got the intercooler mounted today, and made a new steel crash bar. I'd feel really bad for the poor sap that hit me. This thing is brutally rigid!

Intercooler looks sweet man, im anxious to see it all together

I can't freaking wait! All the little stuff takes soooo much time. It only took a couple hours to put the motor in, but it's taking DAYS to knock the rest out. I want to drive her this week sooooooo badly.
ya the little things take up time but it will be totally worth it in the end, espcially when she meets her first mustang
you better call me after that happens haha

Got a question for you guys...The car won't idle without me keeping pressure on the throttle. I realize that it's just air going straight into the throttle body, and I haven't hooked up the two vacuum lines that go up to the intake, and the car needs a little more coolant, and to be burped. But shouldn't it idle under it's own will??? It's a map sensor car. It seems to me like it should idle just fine despite the lack of the above listed items....Thoughts?
Congrats bro

a damaged map sensor wouldn't let the car run at all. Take a look at you're idle air control valve. it might be gummed up, or unplugged, or it may be damaged. If I remember right the idle air setup on these engines is pretty funky, so that would definitely be the first place to look

is the TPS plugged in under the throttle body? the car will want to bog down on rev if its not connected.
st205 powered ss3 coupe
All connectors are plugged in and accounted for with the exception of an extra connector next to the starter.
which two lines are still unplugged? the IAC gets its air from a hard line that leads to the air box. This same hard line supplies air to the turbo vsv and the power steering idle up valve iirc. So I would also check everything there as well, maybe you have that hard line capped off since I dont see the stock airbox in any of your photos.
now that I think about it, Ted95 might be right about checking the tps. Some cars require a tps signal so the computer knows when the throttle is closed, and therefore when to start running the iac. I'm not sure if that's the case with the 3s though. I used to check gm tps sensors by attaching a voltmeter and watching the resistance change as I turned it, and then referencing a spec book.

Enderswift. I think you're right. I do not have the vacuum line from the airbox connected yet because I have not fabbed up the intake. I was going to make the intake on Thursday. The intercooler piping is 90% done. I also need to check the timing, but the engine sounds fantastic when it's running with very light throttle pressure. I've completely rebuilt the distributor, and I'm using all new plugs and wires. I'm also running a manual boost controller. I have the VSV capped off on the nozzle that comes from the wastegate.

Here is a picture of some of the progress on the intercooler piping.

This is also a link to a cleaner video. For whatever reason it doesn't want to imbed when I try to post it. So here's the link.

are you getting enough fuel? have you checked your timing? im really not sure why it wont idle but id look into that as a possible gremlins.
st205 powered ss3 coupe
Can't check the timing before I get it to idle, but I'm getting plenty of fuel. Think it has to do with the vacuum hose that I have disconnected that goes to the intake.
The line coming off the canister? It wouldnt cause that, mine isn't connected and runs fine, there must be another line somewhere that's not connected
st205 powered ss3 coupe
No. The line that connects to the intake, which supplies vacuum to the IAT.
Is there an adjustable stopper screw for the throttle body plate on the gen3 engine? On my gen 4, there is one. Making the throttle blade more open when at the closed position wouldn't fix your problem, but it would let your engine idling on its own.
Then, check if the IACV (idle air control valve) is working by unplugging the connector (bottom of the TB). If the RPM raise when you unplug it, it means it's working. Basically, it's a normally open valve. When it gets power, it's closing (not on-off, but via a PWM modulation). Just make sure that the nipple on the IACV is open and can draw some air. Put your hand on it ans see if you can feel some vacuum. It do not matter if a hose is connected to it and to your airbox. This hose is simply to feed the IACV with filtered clean air.
When you got it idling, check for ignition timing and if there are some stored engine codes.
