My JDM ST205 - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #77425 35 posts Started by gt4st205
Hey guys! My name is Robbie and im am currently stationed in Japan. Back in June '10 I picked up a 1996 ST205 from a guy who thought he had a "normal celica". He sold it to me for $1500, if only he knew. So far i havnt really done any work on the car other than maintenance. I have changed the tail light to some "black out" ones and bought some new wheels(the stock ones had some bad dings on it). I have taken out the back seats, i was originally looking for the mount points for a roll cage, then got to lazy to put them back in. The first few pics are when i first got the car, the later ones are a week or two old.

Let me know what you think!

I bought some black out tail lights at a used parts store, in the summer im getting 35% tint on the windows with some black Gram lite wheels, which will even out the tail lights more. also getting the HKS Hi-power Silent exhaust, cusco strut brace, and possibly some seats out of an Scooby STI, my bud has some black ones that i can get for cheap. Going to re-locate the battery to the back so i can make an intake box for the HKS cold air intake that i have on order.

I have found some ways to get it to the states, however i will either be going to Australia or England after this tour so i dont need to worry about it right now
wow..sick come up ahah..shouldve just kept the jdm tails tho =\ lol jst saying..and im diggin the celica decal on your rear window smile.gif

I'am stationed in Misawa. I Have been PM'ing with ST205WRC... Same guy?
how does the cost of owning this compare to the cost of owning a new car in Japan?

I heard they make it really expensive to keep an older car registered, presumably to help their auto industry produce and sell more new cars, and as a result their resale value drops dramatically.

They dont really have any rules making older seem more expensive or not worthwhile to own. In most cases depending on what type of new car you get, a GT4 might actually be more expensive..

You have to do this thing called a "JCI"(Japanese Compulsary Insurance), and It costs about $600-700 every two years. This is for road tax and also to make sure it meets emmision regs. New cars do not need to get one for 5 years after manufacture date. If you buy your old car from a used car dealer it usually includes a two year JCI.
oh thats not such a big deal, i just wonder why japanese cars devalue so much

They depreciate because Japanese people like having new things, not secondhand. They will however try to rip off americans buying cars.
What do you think about these wheels on my car?

Do they really? lmao
No wonder why the front clips cost so much on RPM Garage haha
I think those wheels need a fifth lug...other than that PS might help seeing what theyd look like on it.. nice wheels tho

What I think when you think I care
They have them in 5x100, just the pic for the black with white accents had four in it.
I have those same wheels in red.

I personally love them. Takes me 25mm spacers on all four corners to get em decently flush though, but I think they look pretty good. Take a look at my profile or progress thread, got a bunch of pics of them up.

I went to the junk yard today and was able to pick up some TRD splitters, for ¥1000 ($12 or £7.60). I may be pulling the hatch this summer, I reallly want a two post so that way i don't have to drill into mine. the only downfall is that it is black, I did want black accents, but i think that may be too far... But i really want riser blocks!!!
My fav soccer team in the whole wide world is Club Olimpia and they have a black stripe, I decided to do the black and white theme on my GT-Four and a lil CF didnt hurt the look either
