mix with water al GUSTO.

Let it seat for 15 min, and use a red scotch brite...

May need to repeat if needed... use additional tools if desired (toothbrush)

Very nice, your brake master cylinder may have an external leak out of the booster end...as evidenced by the lack of paint and presence of rust on the booster.

you need to hit harbor frieght when they run the sale on theyre 20gal. parts washer.
throw some of that stuff in there, and go to town.
you'll be amazed at the crud and whatnot it'll melt right off.
i went old school in mine, 10 gallons of kerosene, and 2gal. of this super heavy duty stuff.
get it on your arms, and after a while you can kinda feel your skin get a little numb..lmao works amazingly tho. absolutly one of the best investments i've ever made for the garage.

i been looking into one of those harbor freight parts washers. i just want something large enough for an engine block

i wouldnt trust it to get all the oil gallys clean and what not anyway, i just have my blocks hot tanked at the local machine shop.

bringing this back from the dead... Harbor Frieght has a coupon in this months issues of tuner mags (i got mine out of SuperStreet) this same parts washer normal: $130. w/ coupon: $80!!!

so ima try presure2's solution 10galKero, and 2 gal cleaner(ima use gunk parts cleaner), one question about that. did you use the pump w/ that solution?

and for everyone els, what other types of solutions have you used, that would allow the pump to cycle, and flow agitate clean the parts??

yup, the pump in those washers definetly isnt strong enough to agitate parts clean, but a little elbow grease with diffrent brushs ect works for most stuff.
my cousin picked one up recently, and uses water based cleaning solution, and says it works really well too.

yeah, just swung by advanced, and 2 of the reps suggested that i just use "parts cleaning" miniral spirits, said that it would not eat rubber or paint. and be safe to run in a cleaner with a pump, (and not just a soke tank) and let the part sit in the tank w/ the pump on and a little scrubbing should do the trick... all of the parts cleaning solutions that they had in stock at advanced were excesivly caustic, even the water based purple power. being sunday the only place around that has the parts cleaning miniral spirits (napa) was already closed (small town, they closed at 2 on sunday)

anyone els got expierience with other solutions? looking for safe for paint and rubber..

mineral spirits is not safe for rubber as far as I know, not for soaking in it.

hmm.. could do just water and pinesol, but i think that would be too week.. .. what to do indeed.....
anyone ever try simple green in theres? and if so what concentration and how did you dispose of it after ward?

trust me, water based cleaning solution works. I used the purple degreaser and the one they sell at HF, its way better than pinesol or even simple green, simple green sucks on highly greased stuff.

Dish soap with degreaser is what Ive always used.

just picked up some of the stuff from sams that njccmd2002 suggested, ProForce Heavy Duty Degreaser. as soon as im able to use it, ill let you all know my expirience with it. ill be using a 1:10 ratio as suggested by the web site for "soke tank"use. only issues i have with this is that it is not safe for aluminum..

i used that stuff before reading this article even.


works awesome but i didnt mix it with water though, i sprayed a little on the wheels, and with water wet cloth wiped them, everything came off immediately. before that many car washes couldnt get that stuff off. but this one did!


is this safe for paint/primer/exterior when mixed with water? my cars still pretty dirty/greasy from the swap?

some parts that i have cleaned with wire brush, and about to go into the tank.

And out of the tank, scrubbed off, and nice and clean...

that mix worked well for most of the parts that i had to clean, but i now have a need for ALOT of aluminum cleaning to do, so i went with one of the least expensive options.. after reading a few other threads on this subject (specificly on cleaning the head) i decided that my second solution to go with would be Simple green.. i have used the stuff b4 as a soak, and worked well, but at the time it was $3 a gallon, now this stuff is $6 for 2Ltr. cheapest i could find it... with the target of over 10gal, this was still one of my best options since i dont have a sealed tank, and petroleum based option (miniral spirits, kero, diesel) would evaporate. with the simple green most of what would evaporate would be water, so i could just add some more later.. also, i wanted to keep the concentration as high as posible, so w/ 12Ltr at full i was able to only cut it w/ a 3:1 ratio (water/simple green).. still damn strong.
