So I just bought a 95 st hatchback and there are a few issues with it. First when I was driving it home today after I bought it I noticed the speedo , rpm, and temp gauge did not work, also the power windows will not work, and most importantly while I was almost home the headlights started to dime and the car died on me and I had to get a jump to get back home. Im pretty sure I need a new alternator but Im not sure if that would explain everything else thats wrong with the car.

do the gauges light up?

Check the fuses in the dash (right above the dead pedal in the dash) and replace any that look to be broken.

Then get your alternator tested.

the gauges did but were dim and I cant check at the moment due to it being dead, ill be checking the fuses tomorrow morning when I have more light

with everything systematically shutting down/dying like that my first guess would be alternator. When it doesn't work, everything will run off the battery until it finally gives up the ghost.

yea tomorrow my uncle and I are going to get an alternator and work from there, I am hoping that its the issue

Okay so just put the new alternator and that took care of the not running problem

just wondering.. is this your first celica? how much did you pay for if it is? probably just a fuse on the gauges..

I know you got it fixed but when my 00' echo died on me, it was a fuse that was blown haha.

Oh sorry, Yea I fixed thins a while ago, I just changed the alt. and replaced a fuse. Everything works now; and john this is my second celica (1st was a 90 st) and I paid $750
