yeah, the extra drivetrain and taller gears make the gt-four feel a bit slower at the start. that was my first impression too. also the fact that 5th gens are slightly heavier. but did it still feel slower to you after hitting boost? cuz thats where the fun starts. i still think for daily driving, gt-fours are better suited with a supercharged v6 or v8 in it... more torque in the lower revs..

Nice car!
The bolt on 3sgte is fast, but mostly in the fwd celica swap. The alltrac looses a lot of power from the awd setup. This is why awd is not always the best way to go.

very nice, its the weight....shes a piggy...and the gearing + drivetrain...i felt the same way about my audi tt from a dig...very heavy car with about the same HP as a ST185 (225HP more or less). Still much faster on a road once moving tho and the 1/4 shoud be a high 14 low 15 second pass which is much better than a 5sfe running 17 sec pass hehe
Riding shotgun in an ST205, I could feel the weight that the AWD added, but it felt much more planted and much more controllable in comparison to my AT200.

so the moral of the story is: if if traction isn't an issue, don't bother going awd. otherwise, the extra drivetrain components (and the extra two wheels too btw) is just extra weight the engine has to power to get the car moving.
