Fuel Pressure Regulator... do I need one and how to install. - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #78125 6 posts Started by czwalga
My question is how reliable is the stock fpr with aftermarket fuel pumps. I'm running an external pump with my fuel cell.

If I do install an aftermarket one, probably aeromotive, do you just take the stock fpr off the fuel rail and cut out the internals or something, it's a unique setup with the fuel rail. So you almost need the fpr on there just to hook up the return to the tank.

no you figure out the thread of the stock FPR and put in a AN fitting and run a -4 line to the FPR. then out the regulator back to the tank

I guess I didnt take the fpr off the fuel rail, but i just took a quick look yesterday and it looked like it was held on by two bolts, not a thread. I could be wrong; i'll have to take it apart tonight.

Not a thread... like I thought. I really don't want to go through the trouble, I can't weld cast aluminum with accuracy, just tacks and stuff. I think i'm going to try and just use the stock regulator and see how that goes.

Welded on a bung.

Thanks.... that's pretty much the answer I was looking for. Wasn't sure if the higher volume pump would where the stock regulator out somehow.
