Door speakers - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #78186 14 posts Started by Seztor
Hey mates

If i wanna buy new speakers for the behind and front. Which ones would you buy?
And what is the sizes, are they the same smile.gif?

Fronts are 8" rears are 6.5".
You`ll have to make a plate of some sort to make 6.5" it upfront since most manufactures don't make an 8" speaker.
Best way to make a plate is to use the stock 8" speaker and get it out to mount the aftermarket 6.5" speaker.

As far as which one you should go with, thats completely up to you. Go to an audio store and listen to them all and find which one
you like the sounds of best. One that I recommend you may not enjoy the sound of. Or it may be out of budget.

current project: looking :(
Many thx to both of u smile.gif!

I moded the stock brackets to fit my 6.5" 2 way boston acoustics, and with boston 3 ways in the back and stock tweeters it sounds pretty damned good.(plus 2 12"s biggrin.gif )

Berto, ive never liked alpine speakers, i love they're headunits, and some of they're subs.but no speakers..

you could go with 8in subs, i know that sounds bad, but that's really what our door speakers are supposed to act like. I was playing with my stereo on day because i wondered why my door speakers could handle deep bass and the rears couldn't, and this is what i came up with to explain it, though i may be wrong; My theory is that the door speakers are for the low sounds, mostly bass, rear speakers for a mixer, the high-lows and mid ranges, and the tweeters of course are for the highs. Note; i have the 6-speaker system.

on the 6 speaker system, the lower door speakers are 8" mid-subs.... the 4 speaker system has 6.5" components fitted to fit in the 8" hole
Im gonna agree with berto on this one, not really a fan of my alpine type s speakers anymore. for the price i paid for them they plain suck, i wont be buying anymore alpine speakers

If youre talking about Alpine Type S speakers, you get what you pay for. They are an entry level speaker just like any other brand.
Type R's are probably the most natural sounding speaker out there and the Type X are some of the best speakers per price point out there.

Never buy entry level speakers. You spend $60. They are going to sound like crap.

I guess most of you have power windows. My ST with manual windows has 6.5 inch speakers in front and rear.

I would recommend Alpine components to anybody (i love my Type R's). Which model of alpine speakers do you have?! Also you may want to run a 4 channel amp to alpine door speakers... they probably would not sound too good being ran by the headunit or stock amp
I have been in the stereo business professionally for about 5 years now which isnt a terribly long time, but i have heard a lot of stuff and the best inexpensive components for the money has been the Memphis Power Reference components for around $120, not only that, if you have them installed by an authorized dealer they come with a lifetime -yes lifetime- warranty. They have excellent midbass response and a post-break-in improvement like I have never seen. In fact, we put a set in a chevy truck last week that sounded extremely good for the money.

FOR BEST POSSIBLE SOUND, don't worry about the rear speakers. Spend all your money on a good set up front. I compete in MECA sound quality and the JBL power series components are an amazing set around $200-$250. I run them currently, and have no speakers in the rear. Do not put 8's in your doors, unless you plan to dynamat the crap out of them or build enclosures in your door, most all car audio 8" subs are not designed for infinite baffle applications anyways and would sound terrible.

JBL power series are rated down to 45 Hz, but play with STRENGTH to 40. And right now they are doing it straight off of my sony GT430ui head unit. Get the jbl's you will NEVER regret it. Just found a set of the previous model to the current ones for a steal!! http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_..._JBL_P650C.aspx

here's the current year model for a fantastic price, with which you would gain 4dB 1W/m sensitivity http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_..._JBL_P660c.aspx
