window tint - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #78295 36 posts Started by drumbum
I have a white celica and was wondering if 15% tint on the back 3 windows and 35% on the front two "since thats the legal limit in the front" would look good, or should i do 35% all around.

yea 35 in front and 15 in back would look good... 35% isnt too dark, especially for in the back, so I wouldnt use ALL 35. 15% all around would look good too wink.gif You can post more questions like these in the exterior section
15% all around and don't get caught laugh.gif
I've had 15 all around basically since I got my car(about 3 years) and haven't had problems yet.

35% or 50 % all around would do.. do you have leather interior?

I have 5% all around and 35 on my back I never been pulled for my tint (knock on woo) but it all depends on ya state laws and how much attention you bring to ya self
I have 35% front and 30% rear on my IS300 and it's perfect. Not too dark and not too light.
go as dark as you can! trust me! you will have alot more fun that way

And i have cloth interior, it is also tan so the tint probablly wont look as dark as it really is. Also the reason im sticking with the legal limit in the front is because my friend got pulled over twice in the same day last week and its a fix it ticket here so i dont want to waste my money and have to get it taken off lol. So 15% on the back 3 is a good combo with 35 on the front two? Also pics would be great because in the pictures page most people dont put their % of tint in their profile. Thanks

i have 5% all the way around and the only time i've ever been pulled over is by college campus police.

never by the actual police.

What I think when you think I care
Question if your state law says you can go as dark as you want in the back and 70% on the sides what should I be looking for, 30% tint?

down here we go by levels...theres 1 2 3 4 and 5 I chose 5 all around and 2 infront, so I wouldnt know the percentages And does that quarter window in the rear count as a rear window to go as dark as you want?

IMHO tinted window laws are stupid they help alot in keeping the intense sun out of our cars in our dreadful summers.

I hate tint that doesn't match. I would never have it on my own car. I have 35% all around on my IS 300 and I've had 20% in my Celica. I vote 35% all around, hands down.

heres my state law for window tint, when I went to the store to take a quick look at what they had i saw that they said 5, 15, 20, 30% not 70% so does that mean I would have to use 30%? Im a little confused

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

these are old pictures, but this was my eclipse with 5% all the way around and a 6 inch banner in the front...

not the best pictures, but you get the idea.

Percentage refers to the percent of light allowed to pass through the tint. In other words, 5% tint means only 5% of light can get through. 70% tint means 70% of light can pass. In other words, your state laws saw that you can basically black out the rear window but the sides and front have to be very light tint.

richee, i couldn't agree more. i wanted to do 35% all around but i figure i go just a tad darker for the rear windows. 30% isn't too much of a difference from 35% anyways. i didn't want to go too dark because here in mn, 50% is the limit which is basically no tint at all LOL! i'm going to tint my celica next month and 35% is what i'm going to tint mines.

Thanks, do you think 50% on the sides would look to obvious? I'm thinking id do 50 on sides and 20 on back

Depends. Where I live, cops don't have any real crime to fight so they pull you over for stupid things like window tint. But if cops there stay busy, you'll probably be fine. 50% isn't that dark at all. 70% is practically nonexistent.

I had 50% on my is300 when I first purchased it. The tint was basically non-existant. 50% will do no justice to your car. If anything do 35%.
Ill prob get pulled over for it =p but ill see

Would this be illegal?

What I think when you think I care
70 is like putting a clear piece of plastic on your window, safe the effort and dont tint it all if you're only goingto do the legal tint.

How many rolls do i need to do all the way around

Power in Balance90 ST coupe- Sold95 ST hatch- Dead :’(02 Impreza RS- DD
1 roll should covr the driver and passenger side, and then one fir the hatch, that's if you know what your doing.
