remote central locking issue - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #78631 6 posts Started by fenderdave
Im having issues with my remote central locking, neither key fob unlocks the car, (1999, SR) I've found the security system ECU, behind the dash, but was hoping id just find a loose wire or something, all looks ok, dont suppose anyone has any ideas???

Its not alarmed, but does have the standard imobolizer which isnt activated (hazards used to flash if i unlocked the car manually rather than use the remote)

Also fond a box with Toyota TVSS just behind the gear stick, has a variable setting, but not sure what it does?

any help would be appreciated.
I have a couple of photos

Just in case anyone has similar issues.
I seem to have fixed it. just incase anyone has similar issues.

I was pressing green button on ECU a few times, as per a post on a RAV4 told me to do, but it didnt seem to do anything (http://www.rav4world.com/forums/649528-post.html)

then found a manual for the TVSS V (mine was a TVSS III) (http://www.kerkerinck.de/allgemeineinformationen/tipstricks/files/TVSS_V_Set._Guide_Except_Belgium.pdf)

But i followed the test steps in there and it seemed to bring it back to life.

Don't know if the two things combined worked or just the last one.

Hope this helps someone else one day.
hi fenderdave,

thank you for your reply. I read the pdf file you attached, and it looks like my alarm is too sensitive, and I need to adjust the radar sensitivity.

Can you tell me where the rador sensor is located? is it on the TVSS (which you mentioned is behind the gear box) or is it on the ECM (behind the dash) and how do you open up to gain access to the radar (ie how did you open up dash, or the gear box) did you have photos?

thank you very much.

tony.
It was behind the gearstick and handbrake, just keep taking the plastic panels off, think from memory i started with the gear surround.

I gotta be honest i Still have some issues. I wonder if its just old wires not getting enough voltage/current through to the TVSS.

Maybe somone more elctically minded could confirm that.
try replacing the battery in the FOBs.. i know that can cause weird issues, too
