where's the best place to tap off for the power on the reverse glow gauges? got em in just wanna make sure that i get the wiring right. and the black wire just needs to run to ground right?
quick reverse glow question - 6G Celicas Forums
ya man the black is just a ground wire.
i tapped into my dimmer switch that way i could dim the gauges if i wanted to.

I ran both wires to the dimmer as well.
Ideally, you should use a SPDT relay to tap into a circuit to power a device such as indiglow gauges. You'd use a SPDT automotive relay, and hook up the terminals as follows.
85 - Wire that gets +12 volts when parking lights are on, such as dimmer wire. I know that with some kinds of indiglo wires however, giving them less voltage than 12 volts will make them not work.
86 - Ground(chassis ground, not the ground wire of the indiglow gauges)
30 - Fused +12 volt power from battery/power distribution block
87 - Power wire of indiglow gauges

ok the guages came with their own dimmer knob and switch, not power it switches them from blue to green. They also came with what i'm guessing is some kinda relay, it connects the power wires, the dimmer and the output to the gauges. The only other two wires are red and black.

I powered mine from the lights going to the deck, turns on the stock deck lights.

i ended up tapping into the power coming from the light solenoid to the dimmer, and just grounded to chasis. thanks anyway coomer, if i knew what i was doing i woulda done it right. seems to be working ok though.
