Topic #79015 15 posts Started by gtprominient
hi guys been a silent browser for sometime now love your club.
i have tried what is not recommended turboed a gen3 3sge i have installed in my 89 camry. my car is daily driver so i want to run low boost 7-10 lbs. somehow my car seems to not able to boost past 2 lbs and thats like on the highway. have check for boost leak not seeing any.i have resort to a ebay turbo after trying ct26 a kkk that smoked none stop. i am using a external turbo xs with 5 lbs spring wastegate with hks boost controller, tube manifold fmic 2 1/2 piping ,stock injectors stock ecu. any idea as what could be my problem

Sounds like a boost leak, you said you checked but I would double check behind every coupler and clamp...you'll find it wink.gif
wastegate flap getting stuck open perhaps.
how big is your exhaust?
what ecu?

exhaust stock ecu stock need to see some boost to decide on program
any special trick to check for boost leak.
does anyone have a diagram for the vacumn hose connection.
you say you only get a couple of psi, what revs do you get those psi? low or high.

If low its possible your exhaust is just too restrictive to allow enough flow to give reasnable boost.

If high its possible your wastegate flap isnt closing properly and just letting exhaust gas bypassthe turbine wheel.

do u have a 3s-gte map sensor? i dont know that the 3s-ge vacuum sensor can even read boost past 2 psi

Sorry for the for the delay was away for sometime i get the the boost at very high rpm in the five grand region.have a external wastegate
no i do not have a 3s gte map i have a stock 3sge map the car revs to 7s without a problem
found the problem was a boost leak at that hose coming off the mouth of the turbo thanks guys.next problem the turbo has a little oil in the front housen is that normal doesnt smoke when driving could the stock exhaust piping cause that
are u running on stock ecu?
im planning to turbo my 3sge too because we cant import 3sgte's anymore =/ some stupid law

i am using some ngkiridium 8 spark plugs any idea what i should gap them
all ngk iridium plugs come pre-gaped. they can be gaped but it is not recommended to gap them because they are so thing they will break easily.
Depends on how much "a little oil" is, second hand or cheap turbos will often leak a bit of oil.
Another (but unlikely reason if the turbo is bush bearing) is there is too much oil pressure and its pushing out past the seal.

thanks i will leave them as is.
Ii did a compression test yesterday and the no.1 cylinder was lower than the other 3 no.1 was 165lbs the others 175lbs is that normal

i got a thing to reduce the oil pressure and it is okay now
do u think i should remove the pcv that run from the toppit cover to intake manifold? can i put a oil catch can there
