So while looking around i found a steal on craigslist for a 90 celica gt4 full clip, now i would like to get the 3rd gen but i can get this entire clip for 1200 bucks with everything but fenders and hood, thinking about jumping on it but i really want that 3rd gen, so what would you all do in my situation?

You can get a 3rd gen engine for about the same price these days.

Basically everything but the hood and fenders, everything minus the driveshaft is there, and where can i find a 3rd gen that cheap art?

There are a bunch of them on ebay. When I say "about the same price, im talking about 600 bucks more... and youll spend that 600 bucks later on anyway to get a ct20b, a front mount intercooler, etc...
Ends up costing you the same money in the long run.

If it were me, I'd go with something proven. Even though it might not be the cheapest available, I'd definitely buy a 3rd gen from Jim because I know he doesn't deal with bad engines, and I'd need reliability to be 100% that of OEM. It's also a bit of investment in power, as I think modified 3rd gens are known to be more durable whilst making more power than 2nd gens (correct me if wrong, 3S gurus).

well if you were local i could make it worth your $$$ but in this case its still better getting a setup from Jim

Yeah, i messaged _Jim_ a few times but still have not gotten any responce, i would prefer to buy from him rather than anyone else

This man speaks the truth. We've all learned how not spending money for the good stuff now will bring lots of unplanned/unexpected expenses later.

agreed. the 3rd gen is way worth the money.. jim seems like a busy man.. I got my engine from him.. took a bit. but so far everythings looking good.. maybe try messaging him again or something. but yes you'll get your moneys worth with the 3rd gen imo.
