So I'm thinking more seriously about the manual swap, and if I can find a working transmission/axle I'm gonna go for it. My question though, is whether or not it would be possible to retain the functionality of cruise control after doing the swap? I'm planning on getting a manual ECU, but I'm wondering if I'll need some kind of relay. Also, is the wiring complicated to only start when the clutch is depressed?

There is actually wiring for the clutch petal, but I believe you need some sort of relay. There's no change with the cruise control at all. It's easiest if you can find a full parts car either, 94 or 95, because you won't have to deal with the obdi and obdii crap. The other advantage is you can change out the interior wiring as well so that there isn't much to cut and splice together (that's what I did).

So the following the wiring steps in the writeup will be sufficient for cruise control? The only reason I care is I occasionally drive to Denver and CC is nice when you're sitting in the same place for 16 hours. But it's not really a deal breaker.

if you do an auto to manual swap you can keep the cc. The cc system is independant, it'll work with an auto or manual.

it's already wired for it

you will have to change the position of one wire to get the clutch safety features to work. other than that, CC functions fully

this my first post here. i'm from manila philippines and i got me a 95' at200 m/t celica.

I've done a manual swap to a/t and just tap the shifter safety switch wire to the brakelight switch so i'm assuming that for a manual swap you would need to run a clutch pedal switch going to the ignition for the clutch safety feature.
