Cold airbox ideas - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #79316 11 posts Started by Rusty
Getting closer to finishing my cold airbox, just giving it a good sanding and tidy up etc.

And was thinking whether I should:

Polish up the sides and lid

OR

have a polished lid, and use a carbon fiber vinyl/film on the sides

OR

Something else

polishing that will be a pain in the A*** and will show every imperfection known to man.

go with the carbon vinyl and polished lid it will look awesome

I say, Carbon Fibre sides and either:

Full perspex Lid
Or
Perspex lid with say a 1inch carbon fibre border all round.

If you want to do something to it, do something functional.

Wrap it in thermal reflective shielding
That would be mint too acrylic lid, with autosol polish on the inside and outside bling bling, and then you could stencil over a TRD logo and scratch it out with some sandpaper so it looks like machine etched TRD logo

Have to agree with this.

But for looks I do like the Perspex lid idea.

I'd do the carbon vinyl all around, indcluding the lid.
But thats just my opinion

yup its aluminium (1.6mm thick)

Nice idea about the clear lid, but as I'm sanding the outside welds down, I've put a few extra welds in the inside to keep it strong. However I do have a few stickers: TRD, Tein, HKS, K&N & RHDJapan.com smile.gif

Its proving to be a bit difficult to buy that Reflect-A-Cool tape over here in NZ, theres a few places that stock the DEI brand but dont carry this line for some reason, and do not want to stock it.
haven't emailed any of these guys yet. http://www.designengineering.com/storelocator/australia-nz

Thoughts about putting that Reflect-A-Cool tape on the inside? Or would that defeat the purpose of having it?
