i just placed an order for a set of sportlines, 1.5inch drop. the guy from tirerack said that i should get the alignment kit for the springs. then i call up a local shop and they said that i dont need the kit.

my plan is to try to have a friend do the spring install and then take the car to a shop to have them do an alignment. i figure that a shop should have everything i need to get the alignment done right.

so do i need the alignment kit or not?

lagos...no dont buy the kit, you dont need it....all you'll need is an alignment. sorry i havent posted the hoodspoiler PT # for ya, i'll try to get it up there tonight for ya man!

The funny part is , you dont even need to do an alignment. your not messing with the setting then your fine....

was he possibly talkin about a camber kit? cuz if he was and you have bigger rims I would pick it up - otherwise you will start chewin up tires

It's a camber aligning kit, not a wheel direction alignment kit. You'll need it. When you put bigger rims, the camber changes...just a bit but enough to make a difference. I say buy it.

can i just wait and find out if i need it?

im thinking that ill get the springs put on, then go have my alignment and camber checked. if the camber is off, then i can just buy this kit to fix it while the new springs are already on, right?

You shouldn't need it. But yeah, you can wait and if you end up needing it you could get it later. I had sportlines on my celi and didn't need it. Of course, I only had 14" rims.

lagos...you will not need it....i have sportlines, and 17"s...no need for a camber/alignment kit.

man, everyone is so 50/50 on this topic. i just really wanted to make sure that i dont get my springs installed and then find out that i made a mistake and that i have to redo everything to fix the camber.

if i do end up needing some type of camber adjustment, i found out that i can just get some ceap crash bolts from toyota that basicly do the same thing.

i feel better that everyone who has the sprotline+17s combo, didnt need camber adjustment.

I said get it because it's obvious that when you do something like that, you need a correction on the camber, but you're better off paying attention to the peeps that own or have owned the springs. So far every one of then said you don't need the kit, so go for it. >>

i have my ground controls maxed out being lowered at 4". granted i'm still riding on the stock 14" wheels. my 18's (with 245/40/18) should be in around the 3rd of january. i'll let you konw if the camber is off then but as of now there is no problem.

Ever since I got my car lowered my two front tires wear pretty bad on the inside of the tire, should I get an alignment kit?

go get your alignment checked. then youll know if you need the kit. you can also get crash bolts from toyota that will do almost the same thing as the kit, but cost a lot less.

I could've sworn someone said celica's came with adjustable camber.
Am I right?

Pressure2 and Coomer have them(Sportlines). They would be the ones who could answer your questions

ok again.....if your car is lowered less than 1.5/2"s you DO NOT NEED THE ALIGNMENT KIT,
just take your car to any reputable shop & have a 4 wheel alignment done.
