Did anybody remove the rear wiper? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #80134 24 posts Started by cyprus_gt
I am thinking to remove the rear wiper and remove the body for the wiper then shave and paint the hole...
...did anybody make this and have some photos?
thanks

Dimitri
ask those who did the CF hatch trunk conversion
I removed it on both my celica and rx7. I just patched it with white duct tape haha cause one you cant really tell and its a rally car.

However on the Rx7 I patched it. Fiberglass sheet the bottom, then fiberglass paste to fill the gap, then bondo on top. Sand it completely smooth then paint the hatch.

Don't really have any pics though.

C-ONE used to make a piece for that before they went out of business. a lot less work but that if you could find one.
Wonder if you could just use like a rubber plug or something for it???

(\__/)(='.'=) This is bunny. Copy and paste bunny into your(")_(") signature to help him gain world domination.
was just thinking of this today. I gotta patch my spoiler holes anyway so I might do this in the process. I never find the rear wiper that useful. Even in snow I use the defroster.
Ive been thinking about it for some time.
A mate of mine has a ST185 Type A GT-four and he removed his and did the fiberglass fix like has been mentioned above. Came out really well, cant even tell.

I was thinking of just doing the same thing but with carbon fibre.

But the rubber plug is interesting too, i wonder if we can get them big enough?

I removed and shaved mine. Its just one bolt on top and a few on the inside, kind of self explanatory just look for the stress points. If it doesnt come out theres another bolt. IMO i think it looks 100000 x's better without it

I just used some tape on the inside of the hole (or fiberglass, tapes just easier) and then put bondo on top of that and smoothed it out with a creditcard (or the little putty things you can buy from bondo (but they're like $6, so if you have an old unused creditcard it works just as well for free).
then sand it and use bondo glazing putty, to get the final smooth coat and fill any small holes. And sand it with 1000 grit (or close)

I've spilt my heart into this car :) And I don't ever plan to stop- 6GC for Life ->Semper Fi<1994 Cupra :p 3sgte1995 Celica ST DD1969 Chevelle SSalllll balls. P2 approved!
Try this one out...the wiper base is still there but hopefully it gives you an idea. I was tempted to remove it totally after I re-sprayed it but thought better of it.

I did remove the radio hole which I wrote a how to guide.

I shaved mine on my old celica about 4 years ago... not the best job, but i did the wiper and antenna

Man I miss that car...
^look nice mate!
and what about the item that spray the water for the back wiper?
why you don't shave it?

cheers

for all of you guys who removed the rear wiper. Why didnt you just remove the rear washer jet as well.

for those who did remove it looks good but how about when it rains! I know you are not looking out your rear view mirror 100% of the time but still...

in Cyprus we have rain no more that 10 times per year smile.gif

I removed the rear wiper, spray, spoiler and antenna. I like the clean look, however I am considering putting the rear wiper and spray back. I have gone about a year without it and in heavy rain or snow the back window is useless. I tried rain-x and that helped but it still wasn't very useful.
I found a rubber plug which I put in place with some automotive glue its not hella flush and has a black plug like my buddies racing crx whos done the same but it does the job and makes it nice I didnt do it for looks tho when I got the car the wiper was busted so it was cheaper to remove and plug than to get a whole new assembly

And the rain doesnt really bother me its not that bad. Not sure what to tell you about to much rain, I live in TN and when Nashville Flooded I didnt really see any problem but the old tent on my window makes it hard to see any way so idk lol
