Hey guys, this is my first tune up on my 'new' engine (rebuilt 10K ago (a year ago). I want to replace it with performance wires, plugs, cap and rotor.
Here's my questions:
Plugs: I'll prolly use NGK Iridiums
Wires: Please advise on a good 'performance' set??
Cap and Rotor: Is a performance set worth it??
I had a P&P on the cyl head along with a full header to back exhaust. I have cams on the way. My header causes the engine bay to get hot so I need performance heat resistant wires if possible too. What do you guys think??
i used OEM stuff, up to and over 300WHP on the 5sfte, with no issues.
none of that aftermarket stuff is gonna gain you any power, or be any more reliable than OEM stuff.

That's definitely good to know then. Can I get OEM grade stuff at autozone or online? I think Toyota wants over $200 in OEM parts, maybe more.
OEM means Toyota parts. Get your wires, cap, rotor, oil filters, etc there. Develop a relationship with your parts guy. Maybe he will give u a discount after a while, mine did(25% off). But, use OEM all the way and NGK plugs from a parts store.

Yeah I know what OEM meant man, just curious if I could get parts that were equal at AZ or something. I did check with my Toyota parts guy and totaled it all to $190 but I got it anyway. Thanks guys!
there are very few things from AZ that u can get that are as good or close to OEM. those being plugs, wheel beaings (timkin) ball joints(IMO) wiper blades, fluids. WALMART if u have them is cheapest on Mobil1

Alternately, get it from an online Toyota retailer, such as 1sttoyotaparts.com or www.lithiatoyotaparts.com, both of which are operated by Toyota dealerships but sell parts at online prices.
Some of the more common parts will come in at or below those of aftermarket brands.
yea, lithia or concelli, or 1sttoyota...all of them will discount the price to a much more realistic number.

I like getting it from my dealer cause i get close to online prices AND no shipping charges and most parts are there over night

Oem is nice but tune up is a tune up with parts that meet oem. those tune up stuff doesnt really give u any performance its just maintenance really. never noticed anything significant with just that stuff u mentioned.
