I've been trying to find studs to fit in my manifold for bolting on the turbo, I dug through the junkyard trying to find them, couldn't find any large enough. I ordered some m12 studs/nuts on ebay and got them in the other day. The problem I have now...the m12 studs don't slip through the turbo. Apparently I need studs that are half m10 and half m12. The m12 side bolts into the turbo side of the exhaust and the m10 studs slip through the turbo for the m10 nuts on the other side. I hope I"m making sense. Where do I get these? It was hard enough to find short m12 studs to screw into my manifold, now I have to find m12/m10 studs. Anyone have to buy these before?

No, they can't get gen III parts. I would have to order the same thing for the gen II 3sgte since toyota here doesn't have it in stock, then I would have to hope and pray that it's the same. This is a picture of what I need, It's a step down stud, one side is m12, the other side is m10. the m12 stud is too large to slip through the mount holes in the turbo, and the m10 is too small to thread into the manifold. This is a combination called a step down stud. I can't find the 1.25 pitch m12/m10 combo anywhere.

Can't you just enlarge the 8mm side to 10mm, and use a 10mm stud all the way. From what I read, 10mm side threads in, the 8 doesn't. I'd just expand and size up the nut. I may be wrong, but figured the idea is worthly =P

the Gen 2 3S-GTE does not use those step down studs! ill confirm that. they use a standard M10X1.25 stud. same stud as the 2ZZ-GE, same as the 2JZ-GTE

it has to be strong metal, it can't just be threaded metal. My only option right now is to get m12 studs and have one side milled down to m10. Either that or drill larger holes in the turbo.

What you can do is look up the part number for the 3rd gen studs using
http://www.toyodiy.com/ . Then once you have the part number, you find a local dealer that has them using www.partsvoice.com or give the part number to your local dealership to order them.
I don't know how your local dealers work, but for us 99% of all items have to be ordered because its impossible to stock everything in our warehouse. You don't have to pay upfront to order the part, and if you decide you don't want it or that its the wrong thing you can always return the item as long as it has not been used/installed.

same here, I just upgraded to 11.04 and I'm working out the bugs, I might switch back to 10.04 until a more stable version of 11.04 is released. I used to use fedora, but switched to ubuntu and haven't gone back. I used to use redhat 8 too when it came out..like 10 years ago..lol.

I perfer ubuntu back in the edgy days I believe was the distro, more shell based, less "poppy" GUI.
All in all, ubuntu is great for command line samba, and hylafax server. Company loved the "free" part, besides purchasing a US robotics 56k legacy modem.
But yea...those studs...
I had some free time at work so I decided to do some research for you.
I THINK the suds are either one of these two part numbers: 90116-10146 or 90116-10169
9011610146 is the same stud used on a 90-93 st184 to connect the exahust manifold to the exhaust.
9011610169 is the exhaust manifold to head bolt for a 2000+ celica.
They are about 1.90 or so each. So it wouldn't hurt to order one each locally and see what they look like.
Keep in mind that these part numbers are from toyodiy and don't have any pictures associated with the parts catalog, so im just making and educated guess based off the pnc number and the part number for the gen2 studs. You might want to see if any gen3 owner can confirm these for you.l

I called the dealer today and they only had the 90116-10146 stud. I went by and it's actually m10 all the way with a reverse torx as the head. They didn't have the 90116-10169 one in stock so I have it on order, it'll be here in 3 - 5 days.

landcruiser, manifold change from one manifold to another. one landcruiser has m12 studs the other has m10 studs, when you swap manifolds you need this stud. I found this
toyota 4wd forum where people are asking about the stud. a guy mentions that a part number 044-02x is the m12/1.25 step down stud.

went to look at the stud today, 90116-10169 is m10/1.25 on both sides. Which tells me that the only option for the manifold without getting the JDM part or having one custom made is to get the stud from SOR.
