1994 GT. Manual. How do I know the transmission? The transmission place is charging me 400 bucks no matter what so I might as well just get the Celi fixed.
I need to know what input shaft I need. They went ahead and bought the bearing kit even though I said I'd do it myself but every shaft they're sent he claims to be 5/8 of an inch short. Is he bs'ing me or can I find this part?
I had given up and bought an Altima but I just miss driving the Celica. Please help.

you can most likely get one from a dealer or even just look around for celica's in the junkyard.
I doubt it should be that hard to find the right part.
there are TWO revisions of the input shaft for the MODEL year 1994
33311‑33050 ST204..MTM (09/1993 - 01/1994)
33311‑33051 ST204..MTM (02/1994 - 04/1997)
look at the sticker in the door jamb, you will find the manufacture date. but im betting its the earlier one, as he is probably ordering the more common 2/94+ one

Sorry to Vampire off of your thread, but since I have a Transmission question, might as well not make a new thread.
Question:
what are the main differences between the S53 and S54 Transmissions? is it just gearing or is there a way bigger difference between the two?
Kevin
I was gonna ask that question anyways lol

having trouble finding the thread that was already discussed on s53 and S54 transmission.
s53 final drive gear ratio 3.966 with 4th and 5th gear being longer
s54 final drive gear ratio 4.176 with 4th and 4th gear being shorter.

yeah That's what I read... I'm just having major problems with my Transmission. in June the clutch blew three springs and was replaced. and then starting randomly last night I can barely shift at all now. so something is not disengaging. and with the clutch being so new I can't believe it just blew another spring... and the clutch is supposedly a good quality clutch.
I know both the master and slave cylinders were replaced. I get a rattling sound from the throwout bearing. this happened on the old clutch and on the new clutch.
I'm curious if the piston on the S53 slave cylinder is longer some how than the S54 and someone managed to get the wrong slave Cylinder.
so frustrated with this transmission heh.
