Weak start up - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #80590 7 posts Started by trdproven
I have a weak cold start up, but everything is fine after that, second start is okay.

I'm thinking its the AIC or something like a cold start electrical connector but IDK for sure. I checked the manual for the cold start one since the problem is always at cold start but the info is vague. any ideas?

Ive dealt with it for the last 5 years since it did not give problems at all to drive just when cold start up, but its sounding sick like a low idle start up. but it gets to the correct idle rpm.

i found and removed the piece thats connected to the electrical connector, everyone talks about 4 screws, they were only 2 screws. Am I missing something? I had to use a cordless impact to do it. I am thinking the 4 bolts. I am looking at rock auto for pics of it. seems to me like they are 4 screws but they are upside down, whats the best way to do this?

this is the how-to i used when i cleaned my IAC valve. (link)

you need to remove the entire throttle body off the car, then you'll see these 4 screws on it.

if you end up stripping the screws (it happened to me), you can put a flat screwdriver against one of the four notches on the head of the phillips screw and hit the screwdriver with a hammer. this allowed the screw to 'break loose' since they're on there pretty tight.
