does anybody know where i can get an adaptor so that i can fit a HID Xenon light kit because toyota had to be diffrent with there bulbs

usdm lights use standard 9006 bulbs, so just buy a kit for 9006

its for a 98 uk model

any one got a source they would like to share as to where i can get them from ....that is if they exist ?? i have searched through ebay and a few uk jap specialists but no luck so if anyone has any sites they know where i can get them from please let me know

Try searching HB4 bulb HID kit. Or, 9006 HID kit. Or if you're a projector owner, H1 HID kit. (Or is it H7?)

Okay... You can't just buy HID bulbs and expect them to plug in. You might as well try to use your 100 watt incandescent bulbs from tour living room. You're on the Internet, let me give you a hint.

Always a good starting point there. Now, let me reiterate... You can NOT just get on EBay and buy a pair of HID bulbs and cross your fingers and expect them to plug in. Had you used Google to begin with, you would know that HID's require ballasts for power and the ballasts have these fancy little harnesses that plug into your car. Shame on Toyota for using an incredibly common 9006 bulb in an effort to thwart your efforts to put HID's in your car

im not some incompitent little boy that doesnt know anything about car electronics i know they use ballast as i have had them fitted on my last 4 cars....i simply asked if there was a certain type of holder for the hid bulb itself....from what i can see they dont just fit straight in....cheers for your 'Help' though

Now, moving on. Grammar aside, if you've had HID kits I'm your last 4 cars, you know that you don't need an adapter. They fit right in. Meaning either A.) you haven't really had 4 HID kits and you only said that to try to prove you aren't "incompitent" or B.) you haven't done your research to see what style of bulb the Celica takes and what style of bulb you bought for your HID kit. I'm going to go with option B. The 9005 and 9006 bulbs are similar but have slightly different bases that aren't always interchangeable. My guess is that's your issue. Try the bulbs in your high beams and see if they fit there because I assure you that Toyota didn't do anything different with their lights. And if you clicked RabidTRD's link and found it useful, then you haven't bought an HID kit at all because that's what he posted.

Your statement doesn't make sense. Any HID with a reflector housing and a scatter lens can be blinding to oncoming traffic. eBay HID's are the same construct as OEM HID's. The difference is in the ballast. OEM HID's have the ballast right behind the bulb and mount to the headlight, as where aftermarket kits are standalone. Also, my Celica is so low that the only thing getting blinded are animals.

Another common myth I wish to bust, the higher the number in HID doesn't mean the brighter it is. 4300k to 6000k are 3x brighter than halogen. These are the OEM HID color temp. 8000k to 12000k are 2x brighter. The color output is the only thing that the Kalvin rating is for. The different colors show better than others and a pure white or slight blue light up more than a deep blue or purple. They also blind oncoming traffic more.

The new land cruiser doesn't have projectors and has awesome xenon headlamps, celica's stock headlamps make the night seem darker

The problem is not whether it's a projector, but whether the housing is made for HID bulbs. A bulb which generates light by arcing lightning between two electrodes is entirely different from a bulb which generates light by heating up a tungsten filament. The intensity, geometry, even the orientation (HIDs typically arc vertically, while halogens typically have their filament horizontal) are at odds.

HIDs can work in reflector housings just fine. The Altima 2.5s has HIDs in reflector housings, for instance.

On the other hand, sticking an HID into a projector housing meant for a halogen bulb will produce glare and mis-aimed light. It might be less noticeable because modern projectors tend to have a sharper cutoff than US reflector housings, but it's still not suitable. Sticking an HID into a E-code (European spec with sharp cutoff) halogen reflector housing will produce similar results to putting on in a projector. Doesn't mean it's good.

Put HID bulbs into HID housings. Put halogen bulbs into halogen housings. And don't mix.

If one were to buy a HID kit for our cars, what are some key things to look for, and also could one not adjust the lights as to not blind people?

I am thinking of getting HIDS ONLY if they can improve my visibility (I will at least be adding fogs to help) and I saw in the back of our lights that they can be adjusted?

You can adjust the lights but that won't help much. The lights have all those little lines in them, called diffusers. Those are designed to scatter the light, which can't be controlled or adjusted. I've had HID's in my Celica with halogen housings and I have factory HID's in my IS 300 (non projector housing) and the difference in the way the lights is spread is huge. You're better off to stay with halogen bulbs with your factory headlights.
