which Wideband O2 sensor for a 3S-GTE? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #80727 13 posts Started by Soulend
Hey everyone,

So Berk Tech were kind enough to work with me and send me a new downpipe then refund my money once they get my old one. on top of that, they were also nice enough to 'upgrade' me to a wideband downpipe. (something I wanted to eventually do anyway) however, I really don't know what I need to do.

My searches have come up with
"its kinda plug and play. remove the narrow and plug in the wideband in the same place" (excluding gauge wiring)and
"you have to buy the sensor, and a controller" (both ways need the gauge)

the plug and play, while I really wish it was, sounds like it doesn't actually get you the information you need. I'm not sure what sensor/system i should get...

any tips?

Kevin
you can get a LM1 wide band or a AEM UEGO wideband.

i know the AEM threads into a stock O2 place cause i recently did just that on my 100% stock 7a lol

now is that the AEM kit? meaning the controller?

and does that mean I have to get a bung so it goes to the wideband hole on the Berk Downpipe?

Kevin
its an AEM kit, sensor and controller. they come with a bung so you just need someone who can weld, worst case

I was hoping I wasn't going to need a kit... haha I don't like wiring stuff
its pretty simple. you give the gauge power and ground, and hook one wire to where the stock o2 sensor went, and set the controller to emulate a narrowband.

its in the instructions, easy to follow

Should I buy the one for the 2nd gen 3sgte?
whoooo! installed the O2 Sensor... it only took 2 hours... haha

though, is 14.8 okay? I think it might be on the lean side... not sure haha

Kevin
thats ok for cruise idle and off boost. 12-13 is ok for boost

I think it's busted, it doesn't move... when the key is in the on position but without turning the key actually on it still reads 14.8 then turn the car it doesn't change, nor while driving :\
they show that when the sensor isnt plugged in lol...

lol yeaaah, I had everything wired and plugged in... I was checking my other gauges and so I checked that one too. I fumbled it and it fell out of my hand, and the sensor plug fell out. I looked at it and in the back and two of the prongs were bent up... fixed that and now it is going back and for like crazy as I drive.

Kevin
thats normal. mine does it too

the only times I have a relatively stable reading is warm up idle, and WOT
