Weapon-R Intake Issue - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #81604 9 posts Started by jt1023
Hi all,

I installed a new Weapon-R Dragon intake on my 96 GT Liftback yesterday. Initial test drive yielded no issues, and neither did my 40 mile drive to school today. However, on my way home, I registered a Check Engine Light. I haven't checked the code yet, but I plan to tomorrow.

Also, I was confused since my stock intake system had places for 3 separate hoses/sensors. There was the PCV hose from the valve cover, the Temperature Sensor, and another hose coming off the back of the intake hose near the throttle. However, on the new Weapon-R, there are only ports for the PCV and the Temp Sensor, there is no third port, and that last hose that was coming from the back of my stock intake is kinda just sitting there, not plugged into anything. Does anyone know what that hose is? Should I just cap it off or let it sit open in my engine bay?

Any insight you guys can offer is greatly appreciated!
that may be it (the sorce of your issue) find where that last hose leads to, and see if its hooked up to any valve or sensor.. odds are that, THAT, is what caused youto throw a code.. oh and did u reset the ECU after the install?

I have not, I'm going to have my friend check the code for me tomorrow, and then I'll reset it and see if it corrects itself.

I'll also see if I can follow that other line...all I can tell without crawling under the car is that its coming from somewhere under the engine.

Just found it odd that the intake install instructions had no mention of this extra hose...

I have one on my car and it is fine. Did you reset the air to fuel ratio after you installed it?
With that extra line, I just installed a T fitting with the other hose and it works fine

was thining about that, but with out knowing to where the line runs i was dubius about suggesting it.

IMO.. pull the code... T-into the other line. and reset the ECU. should be fine.... but still.. track the line back to the sorce.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll do it tomorrow and let you how I make out.
So I reset the ECU and air to fuel, but now I idle at around 1,400...that isn't right is it?
is that once it's warmed up?
and when you first reset it, it will be up that high until you let it reset itself which takes about 10 to 15 minutes
Yes, I let it warm up, then removed the fuses for a min, and then let it run for 10 mins. The entire 10 mins it was sitting at 1,400...

Just went for a quick drive, now it idles between 1,000 and 1,200...I'm guessing its going to get progressively lower?
