Alternator Fuse blown - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #81787 3 posts Started by HarbringerDeath
Was driving home from work and Alt fuse blew out on me while merging onto highway. Figured out how to get the fuse out after a good 10 mins and then put new one soon as I reconnected the battery it blew. took a mulitimeter to the alt power cable and seems to be grounding out. But if its grounding out why didn't it go out without connecting battery? Could it be my power cable ground out somewhere for my amp or maybe my underglow??? IDK what it is!! hopefully its just the alt wire grounding somewhere in engine bay but any help or advice would be much appreciated!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

It didn't go without connecting the battery as there is no electricity in the system to make it blow. Sounds like the alt wire is grounding out.
one of the diodes went out in my alt and shorted its positive post to ground... disconnect your big alt wire then retest
