inside gauges not lighting up?? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #81909 12 posts Started by hzawde
hey guys , so my lighting was all good until today, i was taking off my trim near the wheel,
then put it back on and now when i turn on my lights the gauges don't light up? nothing got
unplugged i checked, for some reason they just wont go on??
Chrck the fuse? It's the one labeled panel. Also, I know you said nothing is unplugged, but I would double check the plug and all the wires for the dimming switch. Your gauges won't illuminate with that unplugged. It's possible the wires could be old and brittle, possibly breaking when they got moved around.

but its also all the lighting in my car, not just the gauges , climate too
Does everything seem to function perfectly fine, just no illumination?

thanks everyone got it fixed , just the panel fuse smile.gif
ok so i thought it was just the panel fuse , but when i replace the fuse, all the lighting works, but as soon
as a i release my emergency brake everything goes black, and the fuse breaks, if i dont use the ebrake
everything still stays lit, whats the issue here???
Sounds to me like a short somewhere related to the e-brake light. Possibly cracked wire sheaths somewhere, but they would have to be wires that move based on the position of the handle, and I don't think there are any wires that move. Hmm... Let me think about this for a minute.

only thing that causes fuses to blow is an open ground that makes contact when its not supposed to. do you have any aftermarket lighting or any of that fun pretty stuff?

ya i have aftermarket gauges, and i remember the guy that installed them, just taped off the ground , instead of actually grounding it
I'd fix that ground. So it's your aftermarket gauges that won't light up? This sheds new light on the subject. I would definitely wire that ground up and double check the positive lead.

well its not just that its everything, that lights up inside, gauges, climate control, the blue leds by my feet , everything, and it only blows
the fuse when i put my handbrake down
Sounds interesting i wish i could see the car. i wonder if he integrated the aftermarket fuse with the interior lighting fuse and when that ground comes loose from the tape it blows the fuse but other than that i'm stumped sorry bud.
