I've only been to Chicago once, just a day trip, so if possible I'd like to go grab some pizza and head out in the morning. If everyone has somewhere to be or needs to get back home, that's understandable, but it's by no means an invite-only trip to the city.

Chris, I know you live in Chicago so you'll be driving into town but for the rest of us, would it be better to park outside the city and take the train in? Being from wayyy down here, I've heard my whole life that that's the best way to get into Chicago, but I've driven downtown and didn't see any issues.

If you want to park where I work for the day and take the train in, I'm sure my boss would be fine with it. It's about 1/2 block from a train station in Hazel Crest, which is about an hour south of the city proper.

The train is the only way to go! I would NEVER drive to go to Chicago. You don't have to worry about anything but yourself then. I take the South Shore train any time I go to the city.

Bought a new camera for this trip today! It's not a GoPro, but a mini dslr with pretty good quality pictures. I won't be driving the 6gc, but I 'll have a decent setup with my daily. Gosh I need to stop spending my tax money.

Man, Chicago sounds fun. It'll be a weekend experience I won't forget.

At the time when we will be driving into the city, there wont be any traffic save for the cabbies. (insert non-chicagoan fear of "evil scum cabbies" here)

In short, we'll be fine.

I you guys want to cruise downtown and eat at a place that is not downtown, we can do that too. Stacy and I have lived in the city our entire lives and know most of the popular Chicago pizza places.

As I said, I've only been to Chicago once and drove downtown. Apart from not really knowing where I was, I didn't think it was that bad. But being from nowhere near Chicago, I have always heard how terrible it is to drive there. But I'm fine with driving there if you guys say it's cool. Grumpy old men here don't like driving at all and tend to exaggerate.

Ah, Ok. I got out of the loop. I come in here and all the sudden it's just Chicago talk. I'm not sure how well coordinating a bunch of people on the highway for 2 hours is going to go. I tend to drive like an old lady when cruising on the highway usually, park behind a semi and put the cruise on 60. Usually...

I have half a mind to keep it and make an SS-Four front end. But I can't do the work myself and I don't think there's a body shop around here that would touch that project. It's not a two hour drive to Chicago from Starved Rock. Door to door for us from Chicago to Starved Rock is about an hour and twenty minutes. If we do go to Chicago, it will be a cruise, and not Fast & Furious style. Don't worry gramps
