Hi. I have both a 95 toyota celica gt and a 94 toyota celica gt. The 95 has a standard transmission and good running engine, but body is rusting away badly. The 94 has an automatic transmission and blown engine, but a very good shape body. I want to swap the engine and transmission from the 95 into the 94. How much modification must be done to change the 94 so that it can have the standard transmission? Is it just a matter of cutting a hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal, and mounting the cylinder and lines? How much more is involved? Thanks in advanced for anyone who can help me out with this project.
instead of dropping the transmission, I want to pull out the tranny and engine whole and put in the manual tranny and other engine together as well. is there a problem with that? will they pull out of the engine bay without having to remove any other components?
That's usually how it's done when you have to do a motor swap and even a tranny swap. i'd pull it out if it were me. But you are going to have to disconnect all the engine electrical, the coolant, the hoses, the air boxes etc. but that comes with any motor pull.

You can pull them as a pair through the top with a little wiggling
We had mine pulled out in about 2-3 hours

the other option is to drop the subframe of the car. Again, undo all of the components with the exception of the axles, and instead disconnect the suspension, get under the car, and loosen the bolts that hold the engine subframe to the rest of the car and actually lift the car up off of the engine.... it's like taking it out of the bottom.... but you'll need to have the ability to lift the front of the car. I've seen the car picked up with a cherry picker before so it shouldn't be too bad, and dropping the subframe is the way I plan on doing it, but I have a fork truck too. Basically, to each their own, either way, it'll take a while like Kurt said.

Dropping it from the bottom is probably easyer but i have a stone floor so through the top was easier for me cuz i just lifted the engine up an push the car out from under neath it lol
