what would you own if you didnt have your celica? - 6G Celicas Forums

I like to have the seat reclined about 30º back, my only concern with something like the Miata. It will be some time though before looking at a second car. Have to either finish or sell the Caddy.

Not true.
We have 5 cars an i plan on more lol

Room and financially provided, would have something that rivaled Jay Leno. But, I don't have lots of room or money. tongue.gif Thinking could sell the Caddy then find a 76-77 Celica liftback or 85 Celica liftback. I still like the Caddy somewhat. I don't know. That's if the money from it didn't find it's way into instruments first. tongue.gif

Were out of room for now
An the moneys alittle tight with the hatch being in midd build
Then after the hatch is close to done an the coupe has had some more attention
The wifes mustang needs alot of work an i dont even wanna start on what all my nova needs

I miss my old festiva
It was fun to drive in a weird kinda way lol
It got amazing gas mileage
An if i turned the radio up too high the side windows would pop open from the bass

Ew, I've never had fun in a people mover.

I mean, I've enjoyed good gas mileage and a solid ride. But never had fun..always can't wait to reach my destination. Not to mention they look really embarassing..

The fwd celica is as "people mover" as I will personally ever possess.

I was 16 an with the exhaust work an the rigged up intake i could beat caviliers lol
its was no where near as fun as my celica. But it was funny to watch it do burnouts

Lol, would be funny to see.

Nova you say. That's another thing with the Caddy that has me falling out with it. It has the power, it's just so big and heavy. Oh, and auto. That and no aftermarket at all, hard enough finding oem replacement, much less performance. If were to get another older car, thinking a Pontiac Tempest or Oldsmobile Cutlass.

2001 Miata LS 5-speed
It was alittle monster in first an would chirp second
If you tried to hit each gear too hard. The shifter would fall through the floor lol

My nova has a mild 350 4bolt main its got around 400-430hp
Its a 350hp 350 stock with a mild cam headers little bigger carb
An few other lil things( grandpa built the motor before he died)
its a handful to drive. Itll kick sideways witb a tap of the gas an breaks the breaks he tires loose when it hits second an chirps them in third( 700r4 with a shift kit)

I like the imports but nothings will put a smile on your face like good ol American muscle biggrin.gif

Exactly Kurt. Something about the rumble cruising around, and you can FEEL the motor. It's intoxicating. Just remembered can add Buick Skylark to the list. Would say Chevelle, but those are harder to find cheaper. Chevelle, Skylark, Tempest, Cutlass all sister cars anyway. Though I like the Tempest and Cutlass more on looks. Think that's what I'll do... Can always upgrade the suspension on the old beasts to make them handle better, already looked into it. Novas are cool, but EVERYONE does Novas. That and I like the looks more of the Tempest and Cutlass. Tempest looks like a smaller GTO, looks pretty cool. biggrin.gif

That's cool your grandpa was in the NHRA. Sorry you lost him so early. Living in the 60's must've been an awesome time for car guys. Everyone was trying to make the most powerful car for the least amount of money. Seems to be the other way around these days.

2001 Miata LS 5-speed
Yea he ad alk kinds of storys lolhis tow truck was a 57 chevy truck with big block 409
An his dd was a 66 nova ss l-79 lol

I'd own an MR2, AE86, Corona, or a Supra.

Been looking more into it. Supra, AE86, 240SX, 300ZX, RX7, Miata. Lots of other cars but can't even get lowering springs, much less coil-overs for them. If it were to be a DD it'd be between the Miata, 240SX, or AE86 since their mpg isn't totally abysmal. I wanted a RWD car before I got the Celica, but was wanting something with good mpg. If it's to be a second car, doesn't really matter as far as mpg goes. You know how it is though. Which car has the best potential, which one is the best now, and how does all of this determine the right one to choose. Also take into consideration ease to work on, and expense to maintain. Why can't this be like Gran Turismo and I have all the room and money for all the cars? tongue.gif

I was looking at Audi A4s when I bought my celica, if it wouldn't have been there I would have gone that route.

JDM guy made me do it.
Well I have a F150 and Rx7.

Instead of the celica I would own some type of subaru, right now a 2.5rs. Cheaper and much more widely available parts for rallying.

Most potential? 240 maybe, but I'd still go for the AE86 or Miata. The former if you has the money, and for f*cking coolness. The latter for a cheap, insanely fun DD.

240s are fun car to dd mine was a blast to drive till the injectors went bad.( sold the car an then relized 6months later. Duh i had a whole extra engine for it woth GOOD injectors)
i think a miata handles better stock to stock tho
An who wouldnt wanna rock out in a white an black ae86
With a tofu shop name on the side lol

I had an AE86 offered to me for $1,000 one time way back. Before I knew what it really was... Still beat myself up over that one... That and letting my MKIII Supra go... Now they're worth considerably more, go figure... I really like the Miata on paper. Especially for being a DD, since it offers the best mpg with some modern safety features. Aside from the AE86, which can be a tad better in mpg. Would like to have one of the rwd Celica, but no aftermarket...

^ You haven't driven a Miata yet, I take it? Do yourself a favor and test drive an NA. It's truly wonderful.

Nope not yet. I hear they're great handling cars. Just lacking in power some, but that can be fixed easily enough. Especially with having such a great platform to start with. 2,100-2,300 pounds or so depending on year. I hear they're super easy to work on too. Kind of funny since I've started looking into them, how much I've likened to them. Get some coil-overs for it, mmmmmm. biggrin.gif Plan on keeping the Celica for as long as I can. So it may be awhile.

I'm serious, you have to drive it to truly experience it. It's incomparable. So go, find some free time and take the keys from some used-car salesman.

Depends on the dealer. I had a fairly poor (and I mean in standing) used car dealership, selling a ratty 2k example, something ridiculously low. Dude took a copy of my license and said "Go to town," tossing me the keys. Quite a good drive, that.
