>Man love the update! so many awesome additions and pictures! Your car really is awesome!! is even making me think about TRD Rear spats

Thanks

I still think about going SSIII myself.... I really LOVE the look of the TRD rears but when my car is done I want it to be consistent and I think the TRD skirts are a little too aggressive for my car.

>yeah those 1st gens are clean!!
and wow!! TRD door strikers? never even knew they existed. how much HP did you get from those?

Yeah, they were pretty awesome. We have so little rust issues in Aus that there are mint first gens all over the place... more common that nice 6th gens

And yeah, I think at LEAST +25 HP

They are a fairly recent product line and are not listed as compatible with the Celicas but I took the risk and they fit

So a few more updates. With exams done, despite immediately starting vacation work I have had a bit more time to work on my car.
ExhaustOn the eve of my final exam my car died on me. Not cool. I was initially worried about lower end engine problems but it became apparent pretty quickly that it was an exhaust issue. A collapsed catalytic converter and burst flex pipe (And no, catless is not the answer.... BIG fines if you mess with that here, up to $10k from the EPA). To make matters worse, I was driving a few hours away for holidays the following evening.
Having already replaced the headers (2.25") and having a quality rear muffler with 2.25" piping until just before the rear axle, it made sense to finish off the middle bit properly instead of just replacing the faulty components.
A high flow cat, 2.25" piping with a 12" bullet style resonator in the middle later (and $450) and the car sounded nasty - in both uses of the word. It was mean and 'much track-car' like, but it was quite loud and very raspy under load. I was not impressed. I had to go away and was busy for a couple of weeks but I just took the car back in on Monday and they added another 12" resonator but in a 2" diameter to settle things down for DD duties. It is still a much higher flowing system than stock, and the 2" section can just be replaced by 2.25" pipe with two quick welds if I ever want to go back but for now I am very happy with the sound.
C's Short Shifter / TRD QuickshifterSo as I've said before I thought I bought a TRD Quickshifter... then it arrived and I thought it was home made, then I found out it was probably a super-rare C's quickshifter instead but I had my reservations. I've since seen a definitely genuine one from the same era and I am confidant that mine is real which is nice!

BUT... I have always wanted a TRD Quickshifter so I jumped at the chance to buy one as it became available. Going to try both, see which one suits me best and sell the other
Whiteline Rear Sway BarSo this week I managed to both get my new sway bar installed and sell the wrong one that I bought originally.

Given how much people RAVE about how the sway bars were the best handling mod ever I was a little dissapointed in it, but I definately noticed the car being more planted going 'too fast' around corners / through round abouts.
And because of the muck-around Whiteline sent me out some freebies - a set of camber bolts (worth $95) and some front lower control arm bushes (worth ~$40);
Guard RollingI borrowed a heat gun and guard rolling device from a friend a few weeks ago. We started it but it wouldn't fit in my wheel wells with the coilovers set where they were. I tried again on the weekend and set the coilovers to their highest setting, and dropped them down a couple of more mm from the top mounting bolts but it still wouldn't fit... so need to get them professionally rolled before I stick my spacers on.
New StuffI am currently seling up a lot of stuff ready to order a BEAMS clip (though the timing is now looking problematic for install... not sure what I can do). But I have bought a few bits and pieces recently;
CUSCO Underbody Brace
I got a great deal on a Lower Control Arm Bar (The 4 point one). Heard they can be a bit of a pain for install so haven't got that far yet

OEM Dealer Option Footwell Illumination Pack
I have been looking for one of these for years, and finally snatched one up for a decent price. However, I think I may be over it now (I already bought an ignition ring light seperately last year) so I'm thinking this one may go up for sale. Still undecided.

So now the hunt for a BEAMS continues!
