OK, so my parents are junking our old subaru outback and it has heated seats in it. I already took out the heating elements and the plugs and wires. How could I wire these seats in into my car, and I want to modify the plastic where the cigarette lighter is so that instead of the empty hole next to it, I have the 2 switches for each seat. So my question is where should I draw power from and what would be the easiest wiring?
Heated Seats - 6G Celicas Forums
I put aftermarket heated seats in my car. I took power from the thick gauge wire going into the ignition, not the constant 12 volts, but the on that puts out power when the key is in. then you just need to wire it all up from switches to the seats. Batman722 has them wired in the cig lighter spot like you are talking about, my switches are on the doors, next to the power lock button.
So you just spliced the wire going to the ignition?
I spliced into it yes, just like when you install a factory alarm. For the heated seats you just need a power source from somewhere. I chose that one since it would carry enough amperage over the heavier gauge wire.
ok sounds good. So when these are in use, do think running my 1000 watt amp to my sub would be too much draw for the alternator? I mean I know our alternator is pretty beefy, but I don't want to end up killing my alternator this winter.
I don't think it will be a problem, I've run both with no problems

Thanks, this is a big help. Excited to have some warm seats when I go snowboarding.

yerp, snowboarding is the ****. and driving the celica in the snow could not be more fun lol. Who would think a 2 door coupe with some studded snows would do soo much work in the snow lol.
