Midwest Meet, V2.0 - 6G Celicas Forums

Great turnout at the Spring meet guys. But, as usual, it's time to start planning the summer meet. Start signing up!

Setting this one up for July 14th. We'll be meeting at Starved Rock State Park again, at the usual Lone Point shelter off of Route 71, click here for a map.

We will be grilling, hiking, going for a cruise through the twisties, then possibly cruising towards Chicago for dinner. If you're up for it, then sign up!

If we are going to head into the city after the meet, it will be clearly defined EARLY ON.

It is going to take planning if we intend on bringing more than 5 cars into the city. I'd love to do it, but not if I'm going to have to listen to Jordan piss and moan about "oh, Chicago..... whine, whine, whine" tongue.gif

Everyone will need to stay overnight somewhere in/near the city, (not near 'the spot').

If people really want to, they'll have to plan to spend the whole weekend there.

Let's set a date before going too far. July 14th, 21st or 28th? Considering there will likely be a Fall meet as well, let's try not to push this into August if we can help it.

I just think a lot Celicas going into Chicago would make for some great pics & video. And I would be fun because I haven't been into Chicago before. I would love to make a full weekend out of it.

I would set the date July 14th. That way a fall meet could be early September.

I just hate driving in the city and the way traffic flows on side streets makes it hard to keep a large group together. Been there, done that. I got to the restaurant before everyone else, then they called me and said they were going somewhere else 5 miles away because 'it was too hard to get there'. If you have reservations at a time and there's parking I'm down.

Do you guys always have it at Starved Rock? If so, I'm down, it's only about 1.75 hours away from me.... biggrin.gif

I understand Jordan's concern with getting separated in Chicago. We don't necessarily need to go into the city itself. I didn't think Willowbrook was bad at all, or we could even stay local and eat somewhere near Starved Rock. Or we don't even have to make it a regular thing, since most of us have long drives home.

What broke? If you have to, you can overnight parts from Japan and put it on your tab at Harry's.

So how was the last meet, wasnt able to make it. But was representing 6GC at AutoMass @ Toyota Park in Bridgeview IL that following Sunday. Was the only 6GC there or only Celi at the event ;-/ . If anyone is close to Hoffman Estates IL car will be at Sears Centre competing in F class TSSCC event #2. Came in last place in my first event ever last Sunday, ran the track after it rained really horrible traction. If anyone is interested event is still open for May 20th http://www.tsscc.org, autox is fun as hell. Otherwise I hope to make it to this next meet if nothing comes up again.

Little stuff isn't important wink.gif Besides, we all know that there's no way you pay for all the stuff under the hood of your car by doing tune ups and selling groceries.

So is there one date that we're all leaning towards? Once we get that settled we can start an official attendance list and go from there.

im trying to make it this time, however, im being asked for availabilty now on my job, with no date set, then i guess im screwed, lol.

ill put vacation for the 21st. if its on another date, then so be it.

Is there any reason that anyone can't make it either the 14th or 21st? Noberto, I know you have work and Chee La, I know you'll just be getting back. I'm just trying to figure out the best date for the most people.
