Dliverance's dream GT four build - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #83534 36 posts Started by dliverance
Long story short I have always been a fan of the GT four. I have owned 8 Celicas and this is my 4th gen 6. Now that I have a daily (Miata) I can do a proper build. This project is going to take a while since I'm doing it on a tight budget but I'm sure it won't disappoint in the end.

Here is the car I'm starting with. its a 94 with a 7afe, 5 speed, and a whole lot of mileage. In the next few months I intend to strip everything down, prime/paint, and give it a nice little tune up. And the wheels will be going in the trash.

Here's a few of my old cars and the daily.

So what's the plan? Just put GT-Four body parts on, drop in a 3S-GTE, or even make AWD?

Yeah I want to start stripping it down soon and doing any fab work as soon as possible. It's going to take me some time but I do intend to equip this with the AWD tranny and gt4 exterior.
Awesome, good luck to you! Look forward to what you do.

I ordered the front spats and I picked up a set of knock off 17" rpf1's. Gonna respray them ASAP.

I dismounted and weighed the new wheels. They came out just less than 18 lbs which is only a pound and change heavier than real rpf1's. I also sprayed one of them just for ****s and giggles to see what it would look like with fresh paint. I got a quote to have them sandblasted so I will be doing that soon.

So i got her all paid up yesterday and I drove her home, I ordered some SS3 sides from FORGMANN, and I'm waiting for my TRD front spats.

Today I pulled off he broken spoiler and I test fit my gt4 front bumper. I really need to get a hood.

I had some damage on the passenger side so I spent the afternoon fixing these dents.

The rear quarter was easy. I pulled off the interior panels and used a 2x4 to pop the dents out. Unfortunately, the door wasn't that easy. I had to make a trip to the junk yard and grab this bright red door smile.gif

After a million mosquito bites this is what I had.

I intend to get everything primed pretty soon but for now its pretty smooth.

Small update. I ordered the seal and bar that goes between the hood and bumper from toyotaworld, ss3 sides should be on their way from FORGMANN, and I ordered my gt4 hood today from Malaysia. It has a lot of scratches but it's the only one I could find without a bunch of dents.

I'm thinking about polishing it since its aluminum. Something Miata guys do that looks like this...

if I do polish the hood, I think I'm going to wrap the plastic bits in carbon. I think it'll look good.
Ok, I got the dhl tracking number for my hood. It shipped out on Friday so I think it will be here in about two weeks. Super excited about that.

Today I picked up some gt4 riser blocks. They were in pretty rough shape because they were glued to the spoiler instead of bolted. I sanded them down and mounted them to my spoiler. This was the end result after I primed them.

I also test fit my ss3 side skirts and front spats but since they're black, they don't show up in the picture very well.

Next step will be the wheels. I need to have them media blasted and have the tires mounted.
wow quick work so far man tha cars looking good!

^^^ how do you fix the front splitters so it lines up with the gt-four corner pocket? is that a replica fiberglass trd front spats?
Thanks guys. The spats are fiberglass replicas. I haven't attached them yet but they seem to fit very well so far. When the hood arrives, I'm going to take a weekend and permanently attach everything.

I got the spoiler attached.

Sounds/looks like a good start man!

I love your miatas.

Thanks Mak, That means a lot to me coming from the most slammed celica on the forum smile.gif

I got my hood today. It was quite a bit more beat up than I expected. I don't think it will be one that I can polish. The good news is, it's not beyond my abilities to repair. Here's a few shots.

Coming along nicely!

I've a question cor you. When you installed the front bumper, did you buy that part so that the new bumper will fit nicely or did you adapt the one you had?

I have not yet fully attached the bumper but yes I did order the proper parts. I ordered them from from toyotaworld. Once those get here I'm going to start priming everything.

Good, I am hoping to do the same with mine, but was under the impression that I needed to buy a clip or the whole front conversion to do it as seen in the article they have here. I will look at the website you looked into to see if I can buy parts and follow your lead

Ok so I got the ball rolling on my wheels today. A friend of mine plastic blasted one of the wheels and since I wasn't too happy with the finish I decided to paint it. I'll be doing the rest throughout the week. Here's a teaser.

Lookin nice! What are the specs?

Not very impressive lol. 17x7 or 7.5 +44 I think. Definitely going to need some spacers.

17's fit well on the car
215 40 r17 tires are almost perfect for correct spedometer
should look good thumbsup.gif
Thanks. I'm going with a set of 215/45 just to get the wheels on the car. I hate the current wheels.
Also a good fit, helps fill the wheel well
I feel so happy for the celica. I hope you can restore it to it's full glory.
