3S-GE engine - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #8364 11 posts Started by ST-204
Hi, all
I wanna know how much of a 3S-GE engine and where I can get it, and also does it worth to swap into the GT model, cos I don't have enough money to sway a 3S-GTE engine. >mad.gif> >mad.gif>
Hi,
Nice to see another person from Washington. >smile.gif> I'm down in Yakima right now, but I'm usually up in Bellingham for college.

Anyway, the 3S-GE engine found in the sixth generation Celicas/Currens is probably going to be hard to get a hold of, though the same generation 3S-GE may be available in the US, and I know that some other generations of the 3S-GE are available in the US for sure. If you're looking for a red top BEAMS 3S-GE with VVT-i, know that those are very expensive and hard to come by. There are some links on sticky thread at the top of this forum in the "Feasible Engine Swaps" thread about where to find some engines. Also, you may want to try contacting Nix99 since they're in Lynnwood. >wink.gif>

As far as labor is concerned, I'd imagine that the amount of labor would be very close to as much labor as a 3S-GTE swap would require. The 3S-GTE swaps have been done and are documented, so getting help for a 3S-GTE swap would be easier than getting help for a 3S-GE swap. Are you planning on doing the swap yourself, or having somewhere else do it?

U could also revise the whole engine to a 3sgte, just replace all the parts of ur current engine with parts of the 3sge. This costs more but then u got new parts and a kick ass car.

I would save ur money until u can do a 3sgte swap or replacement. I got the 175 bhp 3sge and its nice, but i think it doesnt do any justice with a fast looking car like the celica. Its still slow. The 3sgte is perfect.

Finding a 3sgte engine is very difficult, so im saving for a revision of my engine (to a 3sgte), or ill save some more and buy a GT four.

if you get the 3sgte you won't have to make you car AWD you'll use the 3sge tranny anyway if not the 5sfe tranny...

you can always try looking on ebay i just saw a beam red top the other day...

and i think the toyota rav4 sport awd has the 3sge engine so you could look around junkyards to see if you find one...

Yeah, like Kwanza said, DOHC VTEC is far more advanced and yields much higher gains than Toyota's VVT-i. VVTL-i is a lot more like Honda's DOHC VTEC than VVT-i is. Also, Nix99 is a big Toyota/Lexus yard in Lynnwood where they have all kinds of Toyota parts. >smile.gif>
