You should convert it from a fastback/hatchback to a flat back window like the old stingray corvettes.
Keep the pillars though

you know that the low pressure point slows down the car, right? that was a problem on my 1991 MR2, thats why people make covers with vent holes like the ferrari F40, to at least reduce the drag created by the low pressure point behind the cockpit

Very rough version still bu progress made...

And this includes the wide body sectoon/flares as well... an yes there were big chunks which will be fixed later ran out of resins and had to go back to purchase more and of course it hardened creating clumps... later

Talk about weight reduction, I should do this with my whole entire front end!
Its a major difference in weight but be careful if u plann to do this there are things/ precautions you need to take before doing this message me when you decide if you want to. an ill run you through it...
Dang dude, when i saw the thread first i was like DAFUQ, but now that is see the concept, its amazing.

Learned a lot in 10 years...I hardly log in anymore, last loginToday Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOLIf you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. Im actually considering changing my vent design on the hood itself not sure if I'm going to do this yet though...
thats feakin sweet
in how many layers do you use ive been debating on trying to make a set of fenders
some input would be great

As far as layers I would do a minimume of 4 to 8 layers being your max unless u wanna strengthen it more.
Mold release wax + vaccum bag setup would be your friend for this.
Should also think about forming ribs to strengthen the system
Yeah im no stranger to that have a vacuum form table already but in this case this was the easiest method for this particular projct. An yes I do realize the need for forming some type of ribs underneath but at this point its to early for that I was considering carbon fiber but not sure about this route yet the design will most likely be changing so worring about strengthening will most likely come later...

>lol no it has a duct built into it to rout the water out from falliong on the engine an yeah its lotus elise ish hood i was working on lol looks good on paper but we will see ;P

you should post pictures of your concept art too, that way we can see faster where youre heading with this biggrin.gif. I cant wait to see it finished!
I too plan to do some koenigsegg type deal with the front of the car, ill be using BMW headlights tho just to try something different since most people here just do subaru, supra, and dodge neon headlights. what I liked about the MR2 is that people werent limited to like 3 different headlight mods, they have over 30 different headlights they install and custom make for the MR2s... the FTO headlights were my fave. anyway back to topic,
I have to redo the whole font end, to make the body go with the headlights otherwise it wont look right, and this thread is very inspiring even tho im allergic to fiberglass :'( every time I mess with it days later I get like little water blister/pimples between my fingers. so I guess you should consider yourself lucky that doesnt happens to you too and props to you for the project so far its coming along very nice, and hope to see some lotus styling on the celica soon smile.gif
