Drilling though an intercooler - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #84350 4 posts Started by DZracer978
hi guys,
I have bought a intercooler that doesn't have amounting bracket or a place to mount, I will need to put a couples of hole it. Is it ok or will damage the cooling system? I need some input before i start drilling? Thanks
Dont drill. Take it to have bungs welded on it for mounting. You would likely have some trouble removing the metal shavings from inside the intercooler if you drilled it. Not the sort of bit that you would want to put under the scalpel.
All you have to do to mount an intercooler is make make a single 6inch long plate (about that length) and drill a hole through it for a 10mm bolt. Then just bolt it to the bottom center of the frame where your under body plastics normally bolt on to, so that it provides a place for the intercooler to rest. Thats it. The front bumper and the intercooler piping will hold it from moving around.

+1 for welded bungs
