Dream Build - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #84705 27 posts Started by Box
I've been a member since I got my Celica back in February. Since then I've seen lots of other Celicas on here and what others have done to them. Needless to say, this has instilled some thoughts as to what I'd like to do to my own. Today I sat down and "built" my dream Celica, just through what I've found out on here. Here's what I have so far:

>Drive-train:
1MZ-FE

custom dual exhaust with Magnaflow catalytic converters and Magnaflow mufflers
custom K&N cold air intake

TWM short throw shifter for E153

Suspension:
Tanabe coil-overs
rear 3 point strut bar
front 3 point strut bar
Twos R Us end links set
Suspension Techniques sway bar set
JIC arm bar set

Brakes:
ST205 front calipers
ST205 rear calipers and emergency brake system

Exterior:
Curren front end conversion
Curren front lip
TRD side-skirts and rear spats
Euro spoiler blocks
Kouki tail lights
black 16" Enkei RPF-1 wheels
5GC side view mirrors
S2000 antenna

Interior:
RHD conversion
Leather front seats
Japanese Pioneer double DIN head unit

Of course most of this may never come into fruition, but some of it will. What does everyone else's dream build consist of?

Fixed that for ya wink.gif If you're gonna dream, dream big! laugh.gif I kid. This is a solid list. I see no reason why you can't make it happen, one part at a time. Or if you have to, you can overnight parts from Japan. You can put it on your tab at Harry's.

Haven't seen much about the 2GR-FE on here, seen it mentioned but not anyone that's doing it. If going to dream big might was well go with the 2GR-FZE out of the Lotus Evora that makes 345 hp, right? tongue.gif I was going for a realistic build, something I could manage over time. Few people on here have done the 1MZ-FE swap, and have had success. The other option was a 3rd gen 3S-GTE, but it's more expensive and supposedly parts can be hard to find for it. Maybe could even run a small boost turbo setup on the 1MZ-FE, or find the TRD supercharger, to make up for the power difference of it and the 3S-GTE. Plan on getting some small things like the antenna, mirrors, and tail lights soon.

@Bold part: laugh.gif

Sounds completely doable if you have the budget; the only things keeping you for your dream are your drive and your wallet. Go for it!

Just got the reference, Home Improvement. tongue.gif It'd certainly be bad ass when all said and done. Hard part is convincing myself to spend $8K+ on a $2K car. laugh.gif

There's one member here working on a 2GR swap, and several MR2 guys. A 2GR powered Celica would pretty much decimate all. The numbers are very impressive.

I found it very easy to spend $10k on a $3.5k Celica laugh.gif Oddly a little too easy. Flippin' "Buy It Now" button....

Will have to try and find the one doing a 2GR-FE swap then. Only thing is there's that part of me in the back of my head saying, "YOU COULD GET A C5 VETTE OR SUPRA!" This is why I should win the lottery, then this isn't an issue. laugh.gif

I think the older I get the less I care about driving the street. I love to race, but not on the street anymore, plus theres not really anything i run into that can come close to hanging.

Getting older, and rally racing kinda took over my passion for cruising around. I see it all the time though, people spend uber dollars on crazy car builds, then they sell them once there done.

It's more about getting there than actually owning one. If I ever decide to sell the rx7 and build another 'street' car it'll most likely be a factory five GTM... but I doubt it. I'd probably spend the money building a replacement rally car.

Guess so. I'm fairly young and don't care for street racing, leave it for the track. I still want a car that looks nice and is fun to drive though.

Yeah, not trying to talk to you out of it or anything. It's more like... it's the project or accomplishment to get to get what you want done. You drive for it.

Once you get there though, then you're bored and need a new project haha.

Or I could get a Mitsubishi again, those constantly need things done. laugh.gif Found some mirrors off eBay, but the ones that match my car's current colour are either faded or non-powered. Someone replaced the antenna on mine with a generic rubber one, need to see what needs to be done to get the S2000 to work now.

This.

I more or less did my dream build due to a high amount of disposable income... Excellent learning experience, and now I can appreciate all of the time and money that I have put into it.... except once that it's done and you're not putting any real amount of money into it you start to get bored and your mind wanders to thoughts of a new project.

2GR swap would be legit. Supercharged would be too much for a Celica. Too much instant torque for FWD. A 1MZ with an Eaton M90 + standalone would be great... Now to find a M90...

Dream build
Celica hatch
Curren front
1mz with sc
Awd swap
Megan coil overs
Full poly bushings
St sway bars
Rhd swapped
Gts rims
Duck bill
Hatch spoiler

An oddly enough I dont want splitters on it or any other styling mods that aren't listed lol

Got the coupe to make pretty lol

I know, was being facetious about the 2GR-FZE. tongue.gif Though I imagine that'd be excellent in an AWD layout.

Here I thought I was going to be the only one with a Curren liftback. tongue.gif

call it a dream build

because no one cares for the nightmare teething problems until they run into them.

when you get so far into your build, sometimes, you just wish they made it how u want it stock so that it could all just work properly

Mike W1996 Toyota Celica ST205 GT-FOURGT2860RS turbine, TiAL mvr44, JE 86.5φ piston, Clutchmasters FX400, APEX P-FC269awhp / 273ft-lbs
I wish they made what I want stock, would make my life easier. Imagine the hardest part of it would be the drive-train swap and RHD conversion. Mostly everything else is straight forward. Wish could find some mirrors soon though. Somehow my driver side is worn out and the mirror moves with idling of the car, turn the music up and its all over. Sadly on the mirror's behalf the idle is smooth and there's no sub yet. cwm13.gif

Curious to know why your only want the ST205 front brakes and not the rears as well?
Wasn't sure if the ST205 rear calipers would work. Think you have to mod the fronts to get them to work on the McPherson suspension, and then something about the rears you can't modify to make them work. Not 100% sure though.

2006 BMW 330i - 6 Speed - Dinan Stage 12014 Toyota Rav4 XLE
Flamesuit dream build: 1st gen Rav4 st with 7afe backwards conversion (or 4afe,5age). Stick of course, coilovers for car height... Lets put a turbo on there for good measure. Rugged celica(ish) wagon.
Ok, back to real celica talk.

That says that the rears are a direct bolt on! smile.gif

Ah ok, thanks. Will have to change that on my list then. Good to know rear is direct, still have to mod front though.

He's before my time, and he didn't make it all pretty. Doesn't count. tongue.gif

Good news I found someone with a set of powered 5GC mirrors for $20 in state. Bad news he's a little over 100 miles away, and they're white. More so the 100 miles away thing that's the problem, can always repaint. Trying to figure something out that works for the both of us at the moment.
