Will this work? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #84730 7 posts Started by tto010
I was having this idea of getting a Skyline R32 33 or 34 front cut, and shuvving it in a celica. i know it will take alot of modifications on the engine mounts, and might gotta tweek a little on the firewall. but will it work? it would have been kick-ass with a long-mounted straight 6. And was thinking of taking the whole drivetrain aswell. i belive its doable because in front-cuts you get with all the electrical and the mounts and everything.

obviously gotta have a victim aswell, dont want to mess up my daily-drive celica. smile.gif

I also thought of maybe a GC8- (Boxer 4 found in the first generation Impreza WRX)

Only in the dream-phase atm, but maybe dreams come true? biggrin.gif
Possible, yes. It will take a LOT of fabrication and a LOT of work. Check out the Engine/Transmission/Maintenance stickies. There's a thread concerning plausible/non-plausible swaps. The 2JZ is highly regarded as a non-plausible swap, and I'm sure the RB is considered impossible. But if you can do it yourself, be sure to take lots of pictures and start a progress thread.

the gc-8 motor or even a newer sti swap would be insane, th RB s well as the 2JZ can be done with enough fabrication and money.
Why not just swap in a Toyota 1mz an turbo it
You'll get around the sane output as the inline 6cyls
An if you really want Awd you could use all stock celica parts

acually, that was a pretty good idea. so, is it bolt on the old gearbox? ofc, gotta fabricate new engine mounts.

The 1mz will bolt to the same trans that the 3s will

If you got a gt it'll bolt to your stick trans
Only have to make a pass side motor mount an a pass side axle mount

if you got the money, the skills, or the time, or the idea that you don't care if concept fails, why not, greatness is done by risk.

but to be more realistic, just do a 3sgte swap, HP is no problem since it sounds like you got the money. A 3sgte can make good power. But a good swap if fabrication is already going to be done, do a RWD celica.

Again, its all about making dreams come true (which nothing is wrong with it with low or possible to impossible success rate) versus the idea of reality and guaranteed success rate.

GL!
