Interesting find. They both have the same front? (Not to be confused with the basic AC controller unit)
If they are both Climate Ccontrol units. it might have to do with year updates (such as 94's then changed after 95 OR 94-96 then +97 when the 3S-GE was changed to a BEAMS)
will look into toyodiy
...
94-96
SS-2, SS-3 & GT4
55900-2B190
97-99
SS-2, SS-3 & GT4
55900-2B320
So yes it does look like it was updated.

Yeah .. the double orange socket seems to the pre 1996 type and the single white socket are the post 1996 ...
Problem is that I'm not too sure if the wiring harness can be compatible with each other or not .. as in the same socket at the other end that will be connected to the blower/cooler etc ..
there are two cable type climate controls except for the digital one. two different harness. Im sure its dealing with the preface-facelift as well. if u are getting a replacement, you need to doublecheck this before buying it. I already forgot the differences. Pitfire knows for sure as he did LED conversions on these CCs for a long time, this is how I learned there were 2 different ones. he may still respond although he is no longer active. but am i missing something, where are the parts where the cables hook onto? can i see the front side?

This is the jdm type auto climate control and it's fully digital ... I'm not sure if the end of the wiring harness, which is the connectors would plug directly into the air con components like blower and cooler etc ... If its just a redesign from the two socket to single socket type, maybe a more cost efficient design or it has a slight difference in function of each wires
For that someone else would have to chime in because not many of us here have digital CCs. But for the cable type, we do know that there are two types of harnesses also. hopefully someone else might know.

Back side of JDM climate controls. One is 94-95 and other 96-99 so you can call it "prefacelift" and "facelift" model version. However what is real difference in terms of wires and connection (if interchangeable when connector is modified) I do not know...
No more replicas... This is evolution... This isSS-four:)________[Featured Celica of 6gc.net @ 2010]_________
