Amp Install - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #8515 15 posts Started by Drocay
Can some one tell me how to hook up and amp to a sub. so far I ran wires from back of H.Unit to Amp, Wire from Battery to Amp, Ground to Amp, Sub to Amp. I hooked it all up and for some reason the amp doesn't turn on the fuse is good and I can't figure it out.

Thanx.

where you ground to?
Ok well make sure you have a good ground, (IE, no paint) it'll mess with the ground. Secondly make sure you have your RCA's connected (red and white) and you have your ReMoTe connected. I didnt see you list that and its kinda important. Your amp wont turn on if it isnt connected. Make sure you dont power this to your deck accessory wire. Sometimes the amp needs more power than the deck has to offer, and your deck wont turn on. Go with the power wire off the deck, usually red.

I drilled a hole in the corner of my trunk were the spare tire was and stripped it of all its paint connected a wire and checked for ground by touching 12volt to ground wire no were near the amp(I got a nice spark). so thats covered.

Okay I just saw the remote connection now were exactly do I hook it up and what does it do.

Thanx alot.

I was looking at charts I had for my Deck, Should I connect it to the 12volt constant in back of deck, 12volt ingnition in back of deck, or just the fuse.

Thanx.

12v ignition.

ok, if you havnt gotting this done yet, on the back of the headunit, there should be a blue wire, you just connect it to there and that should be it.
DO NOT CONNECT IT TO THE BLUE WIRE!

99% of the time thats the Accessory wire and it drains from the deck, not the battery, which means if your amp requires more power than ur decking is giving out, it'll turn ur deck off.

12 volt ignition is the Gray wire 3rd one from the ground which is black, I got my amp to work but now the sub isn't doing anything and I'm really stumped all my wiring is right and I've checked it twice so I'm not real sure.

What I would recommend is to use the "usually" red wire which is the power_on wire for the deck. So that when u turn ur deck on, the amp goes on too.

To troubleshoot, check for power on ur amp. Usually there will be an indicator light which shows power, but sometimes no. So if you connect the power wire and theres a spark, bingo.

Check to make sure that the amp is not only getting power and turning on, but also getting a signal from the deck. If you have per-amp out puts then make sure theres not a setting on your deck which can turn them on and off.

I know that the amp is getting power and is functioning correctly because It has a dual indicator led green for good and red for protect. When I turn on my stereo the green light turns on and power is good to go, i also checked the RCA wires and they seem to be good to go so I'm just confused.

Do what supersprynt said...make sure your pre-amp out is turned on. If your getting power to amp and to deck then its the sigal somewhere...if its not the wiring then its either the speaker or you just have to turn something on that hasnt been turned on yet.
Also make sure the gain control on the amp isn't turned all the way down.
Thanx alot u guys I finally finished and AudioFreak thanx for the info I felt like an idiot when I remembered I never Adjusted it.
