Ok every time i drive, i notice that when i hit the gas it always seems to pull to the left, im sure cause thats cause the one wheel drive...to left side. I wasnt sure if any one noticed this, or what. I know my alignment is fine, it drives stright an all, just pulls alot..maybe im not used to it, my last car was bmw, but my bros civic dosnt do it, i dont know any way to change this, thanks for reading..
Tourqe stear or somthing - 6G Celicas Forums
mine was having some mad tourqe steer today in the rain and mine pulls to the left when I floor it too but ony in like 1st and 2nd
have you check the tire tread???

Our cars are one wheel wonders?
yeah you might want to check the tires because its kind of hard to imagine that much pull from the stock 7afe, if thats what you've got
I don't notice any torque steer. If it gets too bad for you just get an LSD(Limited Slip Differential). The TRD one is $800+install or you can try calling Phantom Grip(they don't 'officially' make one for the Celica, but they can probably get you one that will fit).
my car torque steers left, especially in the shift to second, it really pulls hard to the left, one time i ended up in the oposite lane when i wasnt paying attention

I get a pretty harsh torque steer to the left shifting into second in my 5sFE GT
Dude, dont worry bout it, i know exactly what yoru talknig about. The car I had before my Celica was an 1984 BMW 318i, and when i started driving the Celi, even the 5sfe in it, it did what your talking about. Its not that bad you'll get use to the fact that your being pulled, not pushed. its nothing to worry bout.

Torque steer... are you guys serious? I never had this problem when I had my 7A... it doesn't even have that much torque to pull like that...
I'm going think about this one... just trying to understand what else could be causing this...

Ok.. I was thinking about this problem on my way to work... Now let me ask you guys this... when do you notice this problem? Does it happen WHILE you're holding the steering wheel? Or are you letting go lightly to see if it'll pull straight while accelerating?
The reason why is because I did notice something similar BUT after I lowered my car. When I let go of the wheel on the freeway... the car would drift... but if I accelerated... it would pull harder. Now if this is something that you're experiencing... this is NOT torque steer... your car is just misaligned.
Please provide more info guys...

As soon as i take off from the red light, i hold on to the steering wheel, but it steers to the left. U gota sort of hold it in place. But you do notice a pull on the wheel when u floor it.

Yeah its definately just the fact that your being pulled, not pushed.

this topic is strange to me cause if you car is aligned it shouldn't be doing that when you hit the gas.. unless you are slamming it down like a mad man..

........Which is what i did. Lead foot syndrome kills my gas.
that is the only time I notice it is when I'm driving really aggressivly. Usually when I'm racing. With my alignment if i let go on the highway I actually drift a little to the right. But I can tell that it's torque steer when I'm racin cuz it pulls pretty hard left, most noticably shifting into 2nd gear at excessivly high RPMs. So it's not my alignment. Cuz cruisin it pulls right, high RPM shift pulls left. It's not like huge and pulls my arm outta my socket, like digndoug said, but noticable.
The first time i really took the car out, from a stop sign i ripped into it and the car jerked left, and i was like whoa whats goin on. But there wasnt anything wrong. The only thing thats going to jerk ur car around is a flat tire. I realized it was just the difference between FWD and RWD.

get a wheel alignment. theres no way in hell you are torque steering the 7afe, or the 5sfe unless you are dropping them from over 5K RPM. even when hitting the gas its either tread wear, alignment, or tire pressures are off, check the tire pressures, then check your treadware, then get it aligned.

No it IS torque steer...believe it or not its not hard to get a non-LSD FF car to turn due to torque...being pulled is alot different from being pushed.

why complain about it??? its so minute, i guess im comparing it to FF cars ive driven that actually have some decent power. we have a 2004 GTP and that things got over 200 HP FWD, and the torque steer on that is so minute i dont even classify it as torque steer. all im saying is quite bitching about it. if its annoying to you, then it isnt the torque steer, theres something wrong. if it is torque steer it isnt worth bitching about cuz its too small to make any difference.
and you can ask anyone who has been here for a decent ammount of time... i know what im talking about.

It still happens tho. I get it a bit on my car but It's usually to the right...
Mainly happens on a hard launch and around roundabouts (no kuya not talking bout understeer >
>) Also when I change to 2nd going hard sometimes i chirp and the front pulls a bit to the right.
Car is always aligned properly (done twice in 20k kms) and fairly new toyo's.
Also boosted_K2 I think ur attitude is pretty poor dude (specially for a mod), they aren't complaining about it they are discussing the issue.
(&yes I have driven powerful FWD's before.)

My car is pretty quick, and yeah I get torque steer, even though it's automatic. Like if I rev up to my stall rate in neutral, about 3500rpm, and then slam it to drive...I burnout a little but I get torque steer unless I hold on really tight.
