Experience with the A'PEXi 2.5" NA N1 muffler... - 6G Celicas Forums

Well, the Focuz was too loud for me and I wanted something more mellow, so I got a 2.5" NA N1 thinking that it would flow good in conjunction with my 2.5" downpipe and piping. Well, the N1 is smaller in diameter than 2.5" inside, compared to my Focuz which is a perfect 2.5" from the inlet all the way to the exhaust. The N1 was too quiet...sounded like a stock last generation Eclipse GT's exhaust. The muffler shop guy told me: "it's going to restrict too much...keep the Focuz" Well, A'PEXi brags with it's "straight-through design" so that bought me, and my friend has a 3" Turbo N1 in his Mirage and it sounds beautiful. I thought that it was going to perform better than the Focuz. Well, it slowed me down A LOT...the car lost torque and high end power...it didn't feel like a turbo car anymore. With the Focuz, the car would spin tires from a dead stop in DRIVE at much less than 70% throttle (it's an automatic). With the N1, it tried but couldn't. It sounds nice but too mellow and it restricts too much. The EGT didn't get hotter but the car slowed down horribly. So, as my advice to you and the advice that my friend gave me and I didn't take, don't make this mistake. Get the 3" Turbo N1, even if you don't have 3" downpipe and piping...turbos need flow, and the 2.5" NA N1 cannot provide it. >frown.gif>

Well, Apexi's mufflers are very good, but the sound is a little bit louder.
For me, I like HKS Hi-power muffler la, the sound is not to loud, but very smooth and deep!!
I like the Hi-Power but I wanted to stay in the A'PEXi line >tongue.gif>

Don't get me wrong, I love HKS...in my Supra >biggrin.gif>

Yea, me too. Before I brought the HKS Hi-power, I also gonna get Apexi N1, but some of my frds told me that both performance of two brands are same, except the N1 that we can choose color!!
i used to have the HKS Hi-power exhaust on my celica, and OMFG. I still love it to this day.

But now that i'm turbo charged, i went with the custom signature carbon fiber exhuast from Signal Auto ( 3 inch pipping ).

And for those who dont know, Signal auto is the home of the Drift Twin 240's. Driven by Drfter X and Drifter XL.

Long live drifting

apex n1 works great... i had that na 2.5 w my 7afe.... car sounded great
and i felt the hp (n1 w/injen intake and hollow cat).
with the 3sgte the 3.0 n1 has one of the nicest sounds ive heard asside from
tanabe turbo race medallion, mr2daul 3in race exhaust(some long japanese name
i cant pronounce), and the sickest exhaust (imo) that ive heard is the TRD
kauzuma race exhaust for 7th gens(my friend has it w/injen cai, trd japan
header). most 7th gen complain that its too loud but the sound is too clean.
just loud with a purpose.. if you will..

Your telling me the NA Apexi N1 Muffler is as quiet as stock?
apex n1 is not ... is not quiet as stock..
its close to quiet at idle.
well dont they make two applications of the apexi n1, isnt there like 1 for a NA car's and the other apexi n1 is made for a turbo car. cause i know when i bought mine they had two types the NA version which had a smaller opening and the turbo one which was a few millimeters bigger.

My Muffler is to damn loud. i have the stock piping with obx header and no cat or resonator.
