Here are the rods from a 1MZ/3MZ, 2JZ and 2ZZ. Just for comparison, If i can come across a 5S-FE and 3S-GTE rod ill add them.

Are the mz and jz rods interchangable? Wonder how much it would change compression

the xMZ rods look to be about 1/4 inch longer, i haven't measured the ends to see if the wrist pin is the same size and or the crank journal. if they are interchangeable they might be a good substitute witha custom piston that lowers the wrists pin.

I think that the longer rod is actually more efficient than a shorter one supposing the crank throw remains constant. Maybe you could find a way to stroke one of the engines. The 2JZ rod definately looks beefier than the 1mz/3mz rod.
Suppose you were to put forged pistons and 2jz rods in a MZ engine, and have the block decked down to the right CR, youd have a perfect setup for FI.

Shorter rods are supposed to lower Comp. Ratio, given the stroke is the same and pistons are the same, right?

Something tells me the dimensions on the 2jz rods are going to be incredibly similar to 3sgte rods... Ive always seen the 2jz as a 3sgte with 50% more of everything ( 50% more rods, pistons, displacement, power and weight)

Yeah theyd lower the CR, probably too much. Also, the longer the rod the more mechanical advantage it has to turn the crankshaft, and a longer piston reduces cylinder bore wear. Theres a tradeoff in it somewhere.

a shorter rod would cause the piston to come into contact with the counter balances on the crankshaft. (possibly)

According to that, the main difference is the big-end width. I don't know how that affects compatibility but the BE Bore is the same, wrist pin diamete is the same, and the length is a little longer, at 0.155" longer.

The rod:stroke ratio remains suitable, according to the same website which says that "when custom stroking an engine, rod:stroke ratio should remain between 1.5 and 2.0"

Stock 5S-FE Rod:Stroke Ratio = 1.5
5S-FE Stroke with 2JZ Rods Rod:Stroke Ratio = 1.54
