Car Wiring Mends Itself! - 6G Celicas Forums

Since I bought my '95 ST I have had no dome light, no clock, no door chime, no door lights, no door ajar light, and no seatbelt light. I have tried everything, I changed all the fuses thinking that its possible one might be faulty but not visibly faulty, I also changed the jamb switches. This was all for nothing.

Last night I decided to work on it again, as I was already in my garage tinkering after installing LED bulbs in the sidemarkers and above the license plate. I decided to pull the fuse in the dash labeled "Door" which is a strange Toyota box fuse, not a relay fuse though. I was looking at the fuse very carefully, and I did not see any faults with it, and at that moment I happened to look back at the interior of the car and it seemed lit. After careful inspection I saw that all the things that had never worked now did, including the dome and clock. I then realized that the central locking didn't work. I assumed that there must be some crossed wires in the dash.

I then decided that it would be in my best interest to place the fuse back in so that my central locking would work. And after reinstalling the fuse EVERYTHING now works.

I have no idea what could have caused this and what could have happened but HUZZAH!!! Everything now works, I didn't even know that these cars had a door chime until just then LOL!

New development. After running it for a week or so with my newfound lighting and chiming. I could'nt help but notice that the car mended one huge problem, and somehow created another small one. Now the headlights do not automatically turn off with the key. Just a minor problem really, I'm not that worried about it, but I would be interested to know if anyone has an idea as to what may have happened I'd be interested to hear your insight.

The headlights dont turn off till you open the door, and the windows motors should be the same. Its all controlled by the door control module which is inside the dash underneath the steering column
Hmm thats interesting, it works as you described. The lights do now turn off when the door is opened and the key is off. Had no idea it would do that considering that before this turn of events they would just turn off when I turned the key off. Very exciting though to see that everything is working as it should now.
