bearing at top of strut - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #88321 5 posts Started by pgiorgio
have a "creaking" noise coming from strut when I turn the wheels going slowly. Anyone else had a similar problem? Just had the struts replaced, but someone said it could be the bearing at top of strut, which was not replaced. The car has 170k miles on it.

Thanks,

Peter
Strut mounts, you should always change them with the strut.

Yup, I had this exact problem.
At first I thought it was an assembly issue, so I took the strut apart and put it back together. After that didn't work, I bought a new strut mount. When I went to replace it, the bearing completely fell apart! Needless to say that was the issue.

Its also possible that whoever did the strut didn't line up the upper spring holder with the arrow that should point out. If that is installed in the wrong direction, it can cause the spring to creek.
