Hey guys,

I'm having issues with my alarm randomly going off and then when I switch it off and then re-arm it, it beeps like it's telling me one of the doors is still open, which they aren't.

So basically I go around the car open and close the doors, boot, bonnet until it shuts up. Usually it will then lock up OK but now it just keeps beeping every time I lock it like something is still open.

Has anyone else had any issues like this, it's really annoying and I can't figure out what the issue is. It seems to do it pretty randomly, it's done it a few weeks in a row and then stopped for a few weeks and now it's started again. I'm pretty sure it's done it a few times while parked at work too.

Car is 1999 Celica SX-R, with the stock Toyota alarm.

I've just installed an amplifier but it was doing the same thing before I touched the speakers and head unit..

Door/boot/bonnet sensors are a common point of failure, but happily are fairly easy to replace if dismantling a section of the interior isn't intimidating. First question though, is whether any of the interior lights or door ajar indicators stay on, which tells you they're not correctly grounding.

The door ajar and interior lights stay off as if the doors are closed when the issue is occurring. Should I still suspect the door, bonnet or boot sensors?

My boot and bonnet seem to be out of line (they are both sitting more so towards the left of the car, the gap running down the left side of the bonnet and boot to the body of the car on the left is smaller than the right) could that be a contributing factor?

I've read that the bonnet and boot can be re-adjusted, which I'm planning on doing soon anyway.

I'm starting to think the bonnet is the issue because the last few times only opening and closing the bonnet has stopped the alarm warning me that something is opened, but it still needs to be opened and closed a few times before the alarm will let me lock the car.
