So i found the reason my battery was not charging, or dying. Turns out the Alt is not charging full output. That means, new alt or fox this one.

If you did a swap and still have the old 5sfe alt, please see if your connector is the same for the alt. As I was very dumb and already sold the Alt.

Before I embark to get a new one, id like to know if it would be a straight thing. I rather have this as a post, so that the information is shared.

The plug is the same but it's in a different location. You can get your alt rebuilt pretty cheap, there should be somebody close that does it. I've still got to figure out whether my alt fried my battery or my battery died and my alt is overcharging to compensate.

Edit: I might be thinking of my Greytop alt I ran for a while. First Redtop alt was dead, used a Greytop alt with the same plug but in a different spot, then got the second Redtop and am using that alt. I'm still pretty sure that the 5S uses the same plug but don't quote me on that.

The plug was the same, but it was in a different spot on the alternator. I don't think I have pictures of that alt, I'd have to check my computer.

all 3sge are 80 amp

5sfe automatic is 80 amp

5sfe manual 70 amp

3sgte is 90 amp

The plug is in the same place, but the single wire is in a different spot. 5S alt, I believe, has the same plug. I had a 5S alt and BEAMS alt laying in my garage for a while and couldn't tell them apart until I put them on the engine. Had to use the wiring harness length to figure out which alt was which.

why not replace the brushes (assuming the shaft is still in good working order)? they're usually the part that wears out first inside the alternator, only cost $15 from the dealer, replacing it is almost fool-proof and only takes a few minutes. this part number should help: 27370‑75060.

You can use the 80 amp from a auto 5sfe you just have to drill out the threaded hole, i did that on mine and I've been running fine since september

well i ordered the piece, and decided to give it a try, if not im headed that way. I spend 10 bucks, if that works, i rather go that way

False alarm for me, it was just a bad battery. Turns out the alt was just doing it's job and trying to keep everything running when the battery couldn't.
