How to debadge - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #8875 11 posts Started by BEEFSTEW800
I started to debadge my toyota text on the rear with a heat gun and i cant get all the glue off. Is there some trick to this? I have most of it off, but there is still an outline of the work toyota (it looks like ****). I have a heat gun and have been heating it up and rubbing on the glue but it wont come off any more.

thanks for any help

The greatest solution: Lighter Fluid

Don't let it soak in for more than 5 seconds else it could begin to fade your paint. As long as you soak the glue and rub at it, it will come off cleanly and flawless (with no paint damage), but it only fades paint if left on for a decent amount of time.
bug and tar remover. or goo gone its adhesive remover.

Visit My Automotive & Tech Blog.
i took off my pinstripes and im havin the same problems...thats why im afraid to debadge and Bug and Tar remover is NOT workin for me either

I sortta noticed the rag was a lil red. I shouldda waited to read ur post. Lol
dental floss or using theard of string to remove the emblems.

Then go to wall mart or auto zone and pick up some stuff called "Goo Gone" its paint friendly and take the stuff off easily.

or if you want to get really original and get half a orange, and rub it where the glue is at wait a few seconds then with your credit card edge just gently remove the glue. >biggrin.gif>
Use a hair dryer to heat the glue up so that you can just pull them right off.

i just tryed goo gone and there is still a little outline of where it was. do you think it might just be years of wax and dirt that have built up there? and if yes the could i just buff and polish it out?

EDIT- I just tryed rubbing alchohol and it worked great. thanks for everyones help
