CD player scrambling issue - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #89167 3 posts Started by gts4
My cd player scrambles on occasion. It slows down the track, and this typically happens going over bumps. Getting it to work again is sporadic, and only happens on occasion after restart, hitting bumps, or 20 minutes later. Is this easy to diagnose?

Can I take it apart? How does the security code work?

Thanks!

Sounds like you need a new unit, unless you have the desire to pull the unit. Disassemble completely and most likely replace the laser module itself, check the bladders, and insure moving rails are not restricted. Even then, it could be an problem with an IC. This is line level repair...

I'd just buy a new unit for 50-150, get a face kit for 25, enjoy the new boom. Are you talking the OEM unit? Security code is new to me...
Cool. Thanks. It does say sec code if you hold 1 and 6 presets while turning it on. Try it. You can't use the radio until you power the vehicle on and off again. It also says anti-theft on the cassette opening.
