Yup, you heard me I have been thinking about adding JDM side rain deflectors to my project plan, and was just wondering if anybody who had them could actually comment on their effectiveness, since they are so tiny!

You obviously wouldn't go driving around with your windows wide open in the rain, but it annoys me that I need to leave my windows rolled up for several kilometers after washing my windscreen or if there was any water sitting on the car from the night before as with the highly raked shape of the Celicas it just falls right in!

I may end up with them eventually even if they are just for show, but if I am able to convince myself that they are a practical addition to my car then they might move up the priority list

Sounds like your windows may not be aligned properly or your weather seal may be worn out. I've never had any issues like that.

but there was a thread a long while back on the usefullness of the visors and they did say that with the visors,
you could open your window a little bit without water getting in so, yes they do work but practical and effective, not really because you can only open it a little bit.

Had them for a few years now but not once did i ever open my windows in the rain.
I see it ideal for someone who smokes inside the car but they are too thin to really work as rain guards.

Also, they blend in so well that you forget that its even there until someone leans against it and breaks it.
So it kind of lacks in the cosmetic section too.....

The side rain visor actually works quite well for me.
I live in the climate where I have to use my washer fluid quite often and when doing so, it washes the grime and throws it to the edge of the A-pillar. While driving without the side rain visor, the fluid would follow the lip between the wind shield and the A-pillar up and around to my side windows. This leave unsightly streaks on my window and I don't appreciate it. After installing the side rain visor the fluid wouldn't run on to the side window which does exactly what I need it to do.

So from my experience and expectation, it's a good investment.

personally I find them over rated and not very effective for the hype of the price of them. On other cars, theyre very functional. On the celicas they only help a bit. It annoyed me that when I wash my screen, water would run backnin whilst driving when window is open. Now I have them it helps but because theyre tiny , they are pathetic at keeping rain out if you have the window open more than 1cm.
